Most lightweight AR’s out there weigh somewhere around 6 pounds. Its very rare you see anyone that is able to get them much lower than that. The guys at Battle Arms Development took that challenge and have come up with an AR that weighs less than 4 pounds. A feat like that can’t be achieved easily. It requires redesigning as many components as possible. “Selector, EPS, grip screw, etc., have been redesigned and/or made in light weight material without compromise in strength, and still retain their Battle Arms invented extra features. These LW components are not piecemeal solutions but parts of a sub 4Lb AR.” As you can see in the image below they even shaved off most of the top rail section leaving just enough to mount pretty much any red dot. This rifle will be called the O.I.P. which stands for Ounce Is Pounds. No pricing just yet as many of the custom components are still being finalized. We’ll bring you more information regarding this new rifle as soon as additional details are available. Until then, head on over and click LIKE on the Battle Arms Development Facebook page.
For about a year now, Battle Arms Development have been working behind the scenes on a secret lightweight rifle project (under 4lbs!) that is well balanced in conjunction with the master armorers at Bentwood Gunsmithing. Here is a picture of the early, hand built, proof of concept prototype (using forged upper/lower) for our loyal fans!
The production rifle will be made from a beautifully designed and crafted billet upper & lower plus many custom made lightweight components from BAD, Inc. in aluminum, titanium, etc!
