AERO Precision has been releasing pictures lately of their new Enhanced Upper Receiver and the new rail systems that go along with them. When most companies want a different style upper they usually decide to make a billet upper and machine it on a CNC machine. That is unless you’re AERO Precision, then you just create yourself a new forging. The Enhanced Upper, like the COP Upper, is forged 7075-T6 Aluminum instead of billet which is a good thing for the strength of the receiver. Instead of an integrated continuous top rail section and and modular side and bottom sections like the COP, the Enhanced Upper features an integrated mounting interface for your choice of 3 new hand guards that AERO is introducing as well.
As you can see in the pictures below, the Enhanced Upper will use a proprietary barrel nut and wrench to mount the barrel to the receiver. The mounting interface includes a gas tube channel and grooves that match up with the hand guards which makes installation a snap. Just simply slide the rail on, put the screws in and tighten them down. No need to align the barrel nut with the gas tube or worry about the rail lining up correctly.
The hand guards that work with the new Enhanced Upper are called PQR and will be offered in 1913 Picatinny Quad Rail, KeyMod and the new M-LOK configuration as well. One question I know everyone will ask is…”What’s the internal diameter?”. According to AERO Precision the ID should be right around 1.8″ which is plenty large enough to accommodate a lot of suppressors and items such as the Noveske KX3, Primary Weapons Systems CQB, etc.
Be on the look out for these. They should be available for purchase very soon. They aren’t up on www.AEROPrecision.com just yet but I’ll be sure to update you as soon as they are. You can also follow AERO Precision on Facebook and Instagram for sneak peeks and new product information.
