NEW!! Vortex Optics SPARC II Red Dot

Posted on May 29th, 2014 by ar15news

Vortex Optics just released the updated model of their very popular SPARC red dot and I like what I’m seeing. The SPARC has been my personal favorite “budget” red dot for a while now and has a great reputation for quality and durability at a fraction of the cost of some other quality red dots on the market. Not to mention, Vortex has one of the best “No questions asked” Lifetime, Unlimited, Unconditional  out there. The new model is called the SPARC II and comes with some very nice upgrades and fixes a small feature that some people complained about on the original model. The SPARC II will still come with its multi-height mount which worked perfect on my old SPARC. That makes it easy to mount on pretty much any rifle you want.

A couple of changes from the old model to the new: –  The old Bikini style lens covers notoriously broke so Vortex added standard flip-up lens covers which I think is an awesome upgrade. –  I like that they’ve removed the side mounted On/Off button. Some people complained that they would turn the original SPARC off but it would somehow turn back on while in their bag or case, etc. The new SPARC II incorporates the On/Off into the brightness buttons which is again a great upgrade. –  They also added some stainless accents to give it an upscale look. –  I have not confirmed this but it does not appear that the Screw-On 2X Magnifier is included anymore. I think this is a good compromise to get the other upgrades. Plus Vortex has a really nice flip to the side magnifier now anyways.

Get on target fast with the SPARC II. Ultra-compact and lightweight, the SPARC II (Speed Point Aiming for Rapid Combat) is equally at home mounted on an AR-15 or shotgun. Digital rear facing controls for powering on/off and adjusting the 2 MOA daylight bright red dot brightness at ten intensity levels—automatically returning to the last dot intensity used when powered up. Rugged single-piece body machined from aircraft grade aluminum is o-ring sealed for waterproof and fogproof performance.

The versatile multi-height mount system accomodates most firearms including AR-15s needing absolute or lower 1/3 co-witness heights, and mounts on standard Weaver or Picatinny bases (not included). A modular three-piece base offers four separate mounting heights for user- and weapon-specific customization: 18.0 mm (.709 inches), 21 mm (.823 inches), 37 mm (1.457 inches), 40 mm (1.575 inches).

  • Magnification 1 x
  • Objective Lens Diameter 22 mm

  • Max Elevation Adjustment 90 MOA
