You may have heard already that Lehigh Defense, makers of some amazing ammunition, are now offering very high quality AR Bolts in 223/5.56, 5.45×39, 7.62×39, 6.8SPC, and 458 SOCOM. I recently got my hands on a Phosphate 223/5.56 and Nickel Boron 7.62×39 bolt and just from my initial inspection, they are very nice.
The bolts are done on one machine/station. This alleviates the stacking of tolerances from multiple fixtures. They keep their tolerances down to .0003” and have a propriety heat treat process which ensures consistent case hardness across the hole bolt as well as insuring consistent core hardness. The Bolt material is AISI 9310 VAR (vacuum arc remelt), which is the highest standard material used.
This weekend my plan is to get out to the range to test out both of these bolts. The Phosphate 223/5.56 will be used in my new SBR and the Nickel Boron 7.62×39 will be installed in my KAK Industry 7.62×39 AR Pistol.
If you’re looking for a new high quality bolt for your AR or just want to have an extra one laying around, you’ll be hard pressed to find nicer ones that these from Lehigh Defense. Check out their full list of available Bolts at www.LehighDefense.com.
