I held off on posting about PSA’s new EPT for a few reasons. One, the first run sold out extremely fast so I was waiting for it to come back in-stock. Two, the name is a bit misleading as it does not double as an Emergency Pregnancy Test. “Ba Dum Tsh” Okay, so really it was just for the first reason but now that the PSA EPT is back in-stock I figured it was a good time to tell you about it.
PSA’s EPT starts out as a standard single-stage government-style fire control group. They then finely polish the contact surfaces and then coat the hammer and trigger in a super slick nickel finish. They say the result is “a trigger that is substantially smoother than mil-spec”. It is also a very affordable upgrade at just $39.99.
I think this would be an interesting product to test up against the ALG Defense QMS and especially the ACT Trigger. ALG Defense Triggers tend to cost a little bit more ($45 for QMS and $65 for ACT) but you can typically find a deal with free shipping etc. While I am always looking for a great deal, I think I would still go with the ALG Defense ACT or QMS triggers knowing that they are tuned by Geissele and I have had great experience with them so far. However, if I were looking for the absolute best price on an upgraded trigger group, I would not hesitate to give the new PSA EPT a try. Check them out at www.PalmettoStateArmory.com.
