ZeroBravo Inc REOS (Rapid Engagement Offset Sights)

Posted on July 16th, 2015 by ar15news

As many of you are already know, high power scopes are great for distance shooting but they are not great for quick target acquisition at closer range. For this reason a pair of offset sights can be an invaluable tool on your rifle with magnified optics. I’ve been running the ZeroBravo Inc. REOS or Rapid Engagement Offset Sights on my Cross Machine Tool AR-10 for some time now and I wanted to give you guys a look at my setup and let you know what I think of them.

The REOS are a two-piece ring that is designed to fit around the body of the scope on your SPR, DMR, Sniper Rifle, etc. With the REOS you get two rings and each ring has a small ghost ring aperture that sticks out to the side. You place one in front of the windage and elevation knobs and one behind them as you can see in the picture below. These two rings now form a front and rear offset sight. I usually shoot right handed so I installed mine on the right side of the scope but they can easily be mount on the left side for left handed shooters.

The REOS are available in 1 inch, 30mm and 34 mm size rings. My Vortex Optics Viper PST 6-24 has a 30mm tube so that is what I used. Once installed its basically time to hit the range to get them aligned correctly and zero’d. Per the directions from Zero Bravo, I rotated the REOS counter clockwise until the ghost rings were visible just under the windage turret on my scope. You can verify that your rings are in the correct spot by picking up your rifle and rotating it about 45 degrees to bring the ghost rings into your line of sight.

From here it is a matter of engaging a target that is within the range you feel you would need to use them. I suggest 20-25 yards. You can make fine sight adjustments by loosening one of the rings and rotating it slightly until your point of aim matches your point of impact.

Overall I have zero negative things to say regarding the REOS. They function exactly as advertised if not better. The ZeroBravo REOS are basically so simple they have everyone who tries them thinking…”Why didn’t I think of that”.

At first glance I was worried that they would be in the way and stick out too far from the scope but that concern was quickly laid to rest. As you can see in the pictures above the REOS are actually more compact than the windage knob of my scope and if you install them correctly do not cause any issues with access to the windage knob. So far I have been able to repeatedly hit targets out as far 40-50 yards with the REOS with no problem, however it is much easier at closer distances. One thing I personally plan to do is put a bit of high visibility white paint in the aperture of the REOS for even quicker sight alignment.

Bottom line, if you are looking for an effective, affordable, light weight and ambidextrous set of offset sights for your rifle, the ZeroBravo Inc REOS are where it’s at. You can purchase them directly from ZeroBravo at
