Pantheon Arms is well known for their awesome upgrades to the Dolos Quick Change Barrel System and now they’ve introduced a brand new product called the Kentri Short Buffer System for AR-15s that will work with both rifle caliber and pistol caliber builds. This should be perfect for one of those super compact AR Pistol “Truck Gun” “Backpack Gun” Builds.

Dolos KENTRI AR15 Short Buffer System

The new Kentri Short Buffer System is just 3.5″ long and features a floating guide rod to keep everything aligned in the buffer, doesn’t require a proprietary BCG,  supports the SB Tactical Braces and Shockwave Blade and  at just $55 is less than 1/3 the price of most other Short Buffer Systems on the market.

So far, after a quick Google search, it looks like Vision Defense LLC (they’re the ones who tagged me on Instagram about this new product) is the only company to have these instock  and listed on their website so you might want to check them out. They’re listed at $55.

You can also follow Pantheon Arms on Instagram and Facebook and check out their website www.PantheonArms.com.

ETS Group introduced their C.A.M. Pistol Magazine Loader a few months ago and is now introducing their new Universal C.A.M. Rifle Magazine Loader. The Universal C.A.M. Rifle Magazine Loader works very similar to how their Pistol Magazine Loader works. Simply attach the loader to the mag, pick up the ammo with the loader and then use the plunger to push the rounds into the mag. There are lots of mag loaders out there but most are much larger and the C.A.M. has a very impressive list of Mags and Calibers that it can load. Take a look at the details and video below.

If you’ve followed AR15NEWS for any decent length of time you’ve probably noticed we build lots of ARs. Some times, as an AR builder, it’s easy to get in a rut and kind of build the same thing over and over again which gets boring. All it takes is a bit of imagination and planning and your next build can be the best one you’ve ever put together. This is the very case with my most recent build.

Believe it or not I had SBR’d this Rainier Arms forged lower well over a year ago but had no idea what I wanted to do with it. Then it came to me and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. From there it was just a matter of time before I had the parts in hand and ready to build.

Lets start out with a few closer shots. From this angle you can see the Rainier Arms ambi safety, Juggernaut Tactical ambi charging handle and Scalarworks OPS (On Point Sights) fixed rear sight.

Rainier Arms SBR Build 1 - Scalarworks OPS Fixed Sights Juggernaut Tactical Ambi Charging Handle - Rainier Arms Ambi Safety

As I mentioned above, this build got started as a Rainier Arms Forged A-DAC lower that I bought and Form 1’d just before the ATF41P effective date. I added a Rainier Arms forged upper and ambi safety, CMC Triggers Flat 3.5lb Trigger and LPK, Superlative Arms Piston Kit, Juggernaut Tactical ambi charging handle, Geissele MK4 rail and Scalarworks OPS Fixed Sights and Low Drag Mount for the Aimpoint T1 and a SureFeed Magazines 20 Round mag.

Rainier Arms SBR Build 2 - CMC Triggers Flat Trigger Geissele SMR MK4 rail Scalarworks OPS Fixed Sights Aimpoint Micro T1 Rainier Arms A-DAC

Of course as a Rainier Arms SBR build I chose to use their 10.5″ .223 Wylde barrel. Covered it with a Geissele MK4 rail, Arisaka Defense 300/IR Series Scout Light and Inline Scout Mount, SureFire SR07 switch, Scalarworks OPS Fixed Front Sight, Magpul vertical grip and Griffin Armament Taper Mount Supresspr Mount. The Superlative Arms Piston Kit gas block is under there somewhere. 😜

Rainier Arms SBR Build - Geissele SMR MK4 - Arisaka Inline Scout Light Mount 300 Series Scalarworks OPS Front Fixed Sight magpul vertical grip Surefire SR07

Here’s another angle of the business end on the new Rainier Arms SBR build. From this angle you can now see how accessible the Superlative Arms Piston Kit gas block is under the rail. This isn’t like many piston kits were you have one or two settings. Its more like a Piston Kit that has a built in fully adjustable gas block so you can really tune it in.

Rainier Arms SBR Build - Superlative Arms - Rainier Arms - Geissele - Scalarworks - Magpul = Arisaka Rainier Arms

This next shot gives you a better idea of how tidy things are on this build. It’s got everything I need and nothing I don’t. The Scalarworks OPS fixed sights and mount for the Aimpoint T1 are absolutely amazing.

Rainier Arms SBR Build - rainier arms = cmc triggers = scalarworks = aimpoint t1 - juggernaut tactical - magpul - geissele

And here it is. Hope you guys enjoyed a pretty detailed look at my new Rainier Arms SBR build. In the end, this SBR turned out even better than I had pictured it but the initial imagination and passion to create another gun is what got it all started. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to just slap together the first complete rifle you can. Take your time with your next build, map it out, think about what would make you smile every time you see it and then build that.

Rainier Arms SBR Build - rainier arms - geissele - cmc triggers - magpul - scalarworks - griffin armament - surefire = superlative arms piston kit - aimpoint juggernaut tactical

Here’s the full run down of parts for this build. If you want to copy it, be my guest. Would make for a great AR Pistol build too.

Already had a chance to get the gas dialed in on the piston kit and man this thing is smooth. Will be getting some range time this week with this gun getting it sighted in. Will let you guys know how it runs soon.

FightLite® Industries, a division of ARES Defense Systems® Inc. located in Melbourne, Florida announces a development program for next generation, lightweight polymer ammunition to work in conjunction with its patented Dual-Feed Squad Automatic MCR® (Mission Configurable Rifle).

In a radical departure from the directions of both case telescoped ammunition and conventional polymer ammunition, FightLite® is pursuing an innovative development strategy for a 5th generation hybrid cartridge that is projected to lighten ammunition weight by up to 30% and deliver reduced ammunition cost, while also supporting legacy infantry weapons and machine guns.

FightLite Hybrid Polymer Ammo

FightLite NextGen MCR Rifle

There are millions of 5.56mm and 7.62mm NATO weapons in both the US military and around the globe where users stand to benefit from a significant reduction in ammunition weight without sacrificing performance or reliability. FightLite® Industries and its parent organization ARES Defense have been very successful with their outside-the-box approach to problem solving in the small arms business during the past 20 years.

The company’s flagship weapon is its 8.5 lb. select-fire Squad Automatic MCR® that shares the excellent ergonomics of the M4A1 and feeds reliably from both M27-linked ammunition belts and standard M16 magazines at operator discretion. Featuring reliable gas-piston operation and a tool-less quick-change barrel system; the patented MCR® is the lightest and most portable belt fed machine gun in the world. Suppressor and grenade launcher capable, its select-fire operation allows soldiers and contractors to quickly and accurately engage both point and area targets. And when coupled with FightLite’s finalized 5th Gen lightweight cartridge, the MCR® and FightLite® ammo combination will represent the lightest 5.56mm automatic rifle with full combat load available anywhere.

FightLite NextGen MCR Rifle 1

The select-fire FightLite® MCR® is derived from the ARES-16 AMG-2 (Assault Machine Gun) that was selected for testing by the US Army’s Soldier Enhancement Program (SEP) and includes product enhancements that were made to the AMG-2 following experience with M855A1 EPR ammunition and earlier military testing done during the Army’s AEWE Spiral H experiment at Fort Benning.

Such enhancements include further weapon weight reduction and simplification, a square shaped feed roller housing, a heat treated steel feed plate that reduces feed ramp wear from M855A1 steel tipped projectiles, refinements in the breech bolt lug profile, a reinforced charging handle assembly, the company’s highly effective RipBrake muzzle compensator, and a proprietary method of mitigating cookoff risk while maintaining a select-fire, closed bolt system of operation that is more accurate and user-friendly than standard open-bolt light machine guns.

Some additional key elements of the MCR® are that it shares a 52% part commonality with existing NSN components already in the government system and the core technology can retrofit to any MIL-Spec AR15, M16 or M4 type lower receiver; meaning that it is rearward compatible to the very first Colt Mod. 01 (M16) manufactured in 1960. These accomplishments reduce a military’s logistical footprint and costs including spare components and operator and armorer training. Additionally, the dual-feed MCR® permits squad automatic rifle users to operate during the assault with 100 and 200 round magazines of M27-linked ammunition, but also retains the ability to reliably feed from 4179 STANAG (M16/M4) magazines from other squad members should linked ammunition run low during combat.

“The Army and some of our commercial customers have been interested in lightweight ammunition for quite some time, so our R&D team is pretty excited about the progress we’re making to finally solve the elusive lightweight ammunition equation for conventional rifles and machine guns,” says Geoffrey Herring, CEO of ARES Defense Systems®. “We’re aware that various iterations of polymer cased ammunition have been introduced to the commercial market during the past several years, but we also know some of the setbacks they’ve experienced along the way such as ballistic underperformance, case melt, moisture absorption, case separation or deformation, and catastrophic failures when the heat or pressure is up. Most of the polymer ammunition manufacturers are employing first through third generation technology which can be predisposed to fail when subjected to rough handling, temperature extremes, environmental conditions, and the pressures necessary for full ballistic performance of modern rifle ammunition.”

Brass cased ammunition has been relied on for over 150 years and has presented many challenges for the arms industry to find an alternative material that accomplishes everything that a standard brass case does. In addition to providing a convenient capsule to house the bullet and components, keep the powder dry and reliably feed into the chamber, it is also a critical gas container that keeps the shooter safe from the 50,000-70,000 psi chamber pressure when the round is fired. When the malleable brass case expands against the chamber wall during obturation, it performs as a mechanical brake reducing bolt loading and embeds many impurities from the chamber such as grit, carbon or unburned propellant into the case body which is then extracted from the chamber in a semi self-cleaning arrangement. Since brass is an excellent thermal conductor, it also absorbs and removes with each shot a small amount of heat generated by the friction of the projectile traveling down the bore. It can be stored for extended periods of time and can tolerate temperature extremes such as freezing cold, rough handling, hazardous environmental conditions and water submersion. But some of the biggest strikes against it are weight and cost, and depending on the individual manufacturer the 12 to 20 step manufacturing process necessary to fabricate a single cartridge.

FightLite® isn’t sharing any proprietary details at this stage about the (5th Generation) construction methods being privately developed in house with IRAD until its patents for the hybrid technology are solidified. But the FightLite® R&D team is systematically addressing and overcoming the hurdles that have plagued early players in the lightweight ammunition space and is confident in its decision to pursue development of a lightweight cartridge that will also support legacy weapons in the US arsenal and NATO countries, and other users around the world.

“Our company’s approach to product development has always been to invest in inclusive technologies that benefit a greater consumer base as exemplified by our MCR® being rearward compatible from today’s production M4A1 to the very first M16’s that the Army ever purchased. To date, our company has produced and delivered thousands of dual-feed MCR® type upper receiver assemblies and rifles throughout the US and overseas, so we’re very comfortable with our product, its capabilities and the ability to produce it,” says Herring. “The primary objective for developing polymer ammunition is to additionally lighten the soldier’s ammunition load by at least 20% and we think that our hybrid case will be able to achieve that while maintaining safety and ballistic performance and also supporting legacy systems. We’ve already accomplished significant weight savings for the soldier with our squad automatic MCR® which currently weighs 50% less than the current M249 and is 3-times more accurate as verified by US military testers during live fire exercises. In fact, our gun was so effective at improving the squad’s speed and mobility during our participation in the Army’s AEWE Spiral H experiment that there is soldier support on record for adding two additional weapons to the current 9-man squad for a total of two of our guns per fire team.”

No firm date is being stated at this time for delivery of FightLite® 5.56mm hybrid ammunition to market. In the interim, FightLite® Industries and its parent organization ARES Defense Systems® will continue supplying its customers with its commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Squad Automatic MCR® and AMG-2 weapons which can currently use almost any of the billions of rounds of 5.56 NATO ammunition stockpiled throughout the world. Once the R&D cycle on FightLite® 5.56mm hybrid ammunition is completed, the company will likely either seek mass production of the ammunition through established high-volume ammunition producers or consider licensing its next generation squad automatic rifle (NGSAR) and ammunition technology to one of the USA’s larger prime defense contractors.

**Updated image after press release below** Have you ever wished you could run a Rifle Length Gas System on a 16″ or shorter barrel? How about a Carbine Length Gas System on a barrel shorter than 10.3″? Typically, the longer the gas system the smoother and softer the recoil impulse will be. It’s been tried many times before and the end result has always been either an extremely oversized gas port OR scrapping the common length gas system and switching to a custom length gas system….that is until now. My buddy Garret at SPECIAL OPS TACTICAL is today introducing their PATENT PENDING Siphon AGP (Angled Gas Port) Nitride Barrels. By creating an angled gas port they were able to run longer gas systems on shorter barrels than ever before. The crazy part is they are using regular gas blocks and regular Pistol, Carbine and Rifle length gas tubes so the only custom part is the barrel. Does this have you intrigued like it does me? Tons of information is available below. Check it out!

[Press Release Begins]

In a quest to design, engineer and produce the World’s shortest length gas operated firearm barrels using industry standard high quality components Garrett Potter owner of Special Ops Tactical an Embry Riddle Aerospace grad, Philip Picardat owner of Artisan Arms /Micro MOA a Master toolmaker who has made high precision barrels for the industry’s biggest names for over a decade and his son Ryan McCormick collaborated efforts to produce an all new revolutionary line of barrels called “The SOT Siphon AGP Barrels”.  This new revolutionary line of barrels are being produced by Artisan Arms and will be exclusively sold by Special Ops Tactical.  We have developed and manufactured the first and only barrels ever to feature a “rearward” angled gas port in order to increase dwell time and gas pressure enabling us to create the shortest “Pistol length, Carbine length, Midlength, Intermediate and Rifle length barrels in the World while utilizing non-proprietary “gas tubes and gas blocks” by way of our all new “Siphon AGP Barrels” that feature our “Rearward” angled gas port.   Until now no other company in the world has produced a barrel that features a “Rearward” angled gas port. “Meaning from the top of the barrel where the port is initially drilled with the gas port angling rearward back toward the “barrel extension” / rear of the barrel in order to gain dwell time and gas pressure”.  PATENT PENDING)

Special Ops Tactical Siphon AGP Nitride Barrel 1

Traditionally and to date all barrels are drilled with a straight 90 degree  gas port and require about 1.5” Inches of barrel in front of the gas port in order for a barrel to function properly.  Otherwise you end up with a gas port so large that in order to cycle the system that the bolt carrier group is violently slung back by the over gassed port “vastly” outside the area of “normal” operation that even a muzzle brake is not able to overcome the extreme over gassing of the enlarged straight port which leads into several negatives being accuracy, recoil, wear and tear and multiple reliability issues; Not to mention the extreme deafening sound when using a muzzle brake on a short barrel.   Our new “Siphon AGP Barrels” cycle the gas system properly with a much smaller gas port allowing for correct, positive and ultra-reliable function as well as increased recoil reduction “because of the smaller port “which provides much better recoil control as well as accuracy that is just NOT possible with all other manufacturers’ barrels to date!

Our new revolutionary design allows our barrels to be “the shortest” possible length while using  standard gas tubes, standard gas blocks as well as greatly reduced sizes in gas ports because of their Patent Pending “rearward” angled siphon gas ports.  Our new “Siphon Angled Gas Port” is so much smaller than traditionally possible generally speaking the Siphon AGP gas port sizes are 10 to 20 thousandths smaller than their straight port counter parts.  The new Siphon AGP barrels have anywhere from a 8% up to 20% less felt recoil over their straight 90 degree port counterparts depending on specific barrel length, accomplished without the aid of a muzzle brake or any other recoil reducing device!  When a muzzle brake is implemented these barrels are incredibly smooth!

We like to push the limits of what is possible just to see what can achieved.  Designing and building standard components is still enjoyable but we thrive on designing and manufacturing tomorrow’s products!

Throughout this endeavor we knew that there had to be a few key features:

#1. The Barrels must use a standard length gas tubes not custom or proprietary.

#2. The Barrels must use a standard diameter and height gas blocks not custom or proprietary.

#3. The Barrels must be reliable enough to be employed by LEO, Military application, as well as contracted applications.

From our extensive testing we have found extremely promising results that the Siphon AGP barrels have much less of a recoil impulse than their traditional “Straight Gas Port” counterparts.  Generally speaking  8% up to a 20% reduction as compared to their straight port counterparts partially due to the reduced gas port size but is also associated with being able to run a longer gas tube not previously possible with traditional straight port barrels but also because the gas flow has one less 90 degree change in direction so makes the flow of gasses smoother throughout the entire system.

The profile, shape and weight of these new barrels was also very important to us.  We chose to start with a medium contour custom profile on this new line of barrels because of their crossover ability of being able to deliver excellent accuracy but in a more balanced refined lighter weight profile than a traditional government profile as well in efforts to help overcome barrel flex and whip.

Many manufacturers across the board intentionally over gas their barrels in order to ensure their barrels cycle on all types of ammo being hot or light loads.  This causes excessive wear and tear on the entire system and its parts as well as causing unwanted excessive recoil.   We make sure our barrels are not over gassed.  I see and hear so many people both customers as well as others in the industry state or think that a specific gas port size for a particular barrel length and or profile will be “universal” the same or similar to every barrel made across the board; this is NOT the case!  The gas port size has a “direct” relationship to the length of barrel and the Inner diameter of a barrels bore and the slightest change or difference in bore diameter will determine the proper gas port size. (Even with barrels of the same length and caliber all bores are not the exact same size.)

After extensive testing I have realized we have truly designed and manufactured “unobtainium”.  This is the only actual dissipator barrel system.  The new guns “That feature our SOT AGP Siphon Barrels” are truly very special and unique.  They will become a staple in the industry because of their unparalleled smoothness and reduction in recoil that can be applied to Military, Law Enforcement, Contractors and recreational shooters alike.  Our shortest 5” Inch AGP Siphon barrel offers a super compact firearm that is lightweight and extremely agile with such a major gain in recoil reduction over its 7.5 inch straight gas port counterpart, as well as being able to have extreme muzzle control in both semi and full auto modes of firing.  To the shooter the guns that feature our SOT AGP Siphon barrels are so much smoother than any other AR15 platform weapon in or near its category and will absolutely be a major game changer for the industry and shooters alike.  As soon as people get a chance to fire this barrel they will instantly feel and see that this is truly a revolutionary product!

Special Ops Tactical will be first releasing (5.56 NATO Caliber Siphon AGP Barrels in (5”Inch Pistol Length Gas),( 9”Inch Carbine Length Gas), (14”Inch Rifle Length Gas) and (16.01”Inch Rifle Length Gas), as well as several lines of our new Patent Pending SOT Siphon AGP barrels in multiple lengths and calibers including (5.56, 300BLKOUT, 7.62×51, 6.5 Creedmoor) as well as Complete Uppers and Rifles and will continue to add more lengths and calibers in the future so please stay tuned!

More and more it is becoming very apparent that Cross Machine Tool is more than just an AR receiver manufacturer. CMT was not satisfied with just making some amazing receiver sets so they basically starting making everything else. First it was muzzle devices, which they offer multiple models now. Then they came out with some extremely nice AR-15 and AR-10 handguards and most recently they announced they are introducing their new JAG gas blocks. Well, if you add all of those parts up you’re basically only a few parts away from a complete rifle so it only made sense for Cross Machine Tool to start offering complete rifles.

Currently they are offering a number of different models including a 10.5″ 5.56 SBR, a 16″ 5.56 rifle and a 20″ 6.5 Creedmoor AR-10 rifle as shown below.

If you’re looking for a new factory built rifle or if you want to buy the individual components and build one your self, Cross Machine Tool is an option that is hard to beat.
