Battle Arms Development recently introduced their new Ultra Compact Pistol Sabertube + Vert Buffer System combo which is the latest addition to their Sabertube line up. Basically what you have here is the Buffer System from BAD’s VERT PDW stock but this version is for an AR Pistol. Anymore everyone has a super short AR Pistol and at just 4.75″ long, the Ultra Compact Pistol Sabertube + Vert Buffer System seems like the perfect buffer system for those pistol builds.
Contrary to popular belief, not everyone has to shoulder their AR Pistols. 😉 I’m picturing this being an awesome setup to run with a single point sling similar to how an MP5K is fired while putting forward pressure on the sling to stabilize the firearm. The Ultra Compact Pistol Sabertube + Vert Buffer System comes complete with the 4.75″ Saber Tube, Buffer Spring and VERT buffer and is now available at www.BattleArmsDevelopment.com.
A few weeks ago we introduced you guys to the new Stealth Recoil Spring from Armaspec. The Stealth Recoil Spring is a drop-in replacement for your standard AR Buffer and Buffer Spring that will make the action quieter and smoother. The idea is not new but the amazing pricing is! We knew these would be coming out soon but didn’t know where until today. Rainier Arms has the exclusive offering of the SRS-Carbine Stealth Recoil Spring which is equivalent to a 3.3oz buffer and carbine spring. The intro price is just $64.95 which is too good of a deal to pass up. Get yours now at www.RainierArms.com.
The Stealth Recoil Spring™ SRS ™ is a self-contained multi-stage drop-in replacement for your standard buffer and spring. The Stealth Recoil Spring ™ is designed to reduce felt recoil as well as keep the buffer spring from rubbing against the inner wall of the buffer tube. The buffer mass is designed to stay under constant tension against the bolt carrier and the O-ring on the head of the buffer mass prevents metal on metal contact.
Armaspec introduced a few new products this year at SHOT Show but the one I know many people are super excited about is the new Stealth Recoil Spring. The Stealth Recoil Spring is a drop-in replacement for your AR15 buffer and buffer spring that eliminates the noise from the spring rubbing on the inside of the buffer tube and helps the rifle function quieter and smoother. They also incorporated a rubber o-ring on the face of the Stealth Recoil Spring that removes any metal on metal contact.
The Stealth Recoil Spring is a self-contained multi-stage drop-in replacement for your standard buffer and spring. Designed to reduced felt recoil as well as keep the buffer spring from rubbing against the inner wall of the buffer tube. The buffer mass is designed to stay under constant tension against the bolt carrier and the O-ring on the head of the buffer mass prevents metal on metal contact. Pat. Pend.
The Stealth Recoil Spring comes in 5 variations.
– SRS-Carbine at about 3.3oz equivalent
– SRS-H at around 3.8oz equivalent
– SRS-H2 at around 4.7oz equivalent
– SRS-9 at around 5.3oz equivalent
– SRS-H3 at around 5.6oz equivalent
Another awesome thing about the new Stealth Recoil Spring is the price. Armaspec has kept the price to a very affordable $79. At that price, if they work as advertised, I’ll be using these in many builds going forward. These are showing out of stock now but sounds like they should be available for purchase very soon at www.Armaspec.com.
I’ve been known to tinker and tweak my guns until I get them running perfect. One of the AR’s I’ve done this the most on is my Quarter Circle 10 9mm. The blowback operation of these 9mm guns creates a ton of energy and gets the BCG moving at a very high rate creating a lot more felt recoil than you would ever guess and can also lead to beating up and breaking parts like bolt catches, etc. I’ve mostly been swapping around different springs and buffers going heavier and heavier.
KAK Industry just rolled out a brand new 9mm Configurable Buffer Kit that lets you swap out weights inside the buffer to adjust the overall weight of the buffer in stages up to 10 ounces.
This new KAK 9mm Configurable Buffer Kit would have really come in handy while I was trying to figure out the perfect buffer weight to get my build running like a sewing machine. It is also perfect for making adjustments for Suppressed, UnSuppressed, Subsonic Rounds, Full Auto, etc. If you’re tweaking your AR9, you definitely need to check out this new 9mm Configurable Buffer Kit from KAK Industry.
The guys at Fortis Manufacturing never stop! They are always looking at unique and innovative ways to improve or redesign parts for the AR. Their new LA Stock or Lever Action Stock is an all aluminum collapsible stock that can be adjusted using the handle that looks and moves much like a Lever Action rifle. Once you’ve adjusted the stock you use the Lever Action to clamp down on the buffer tube making for a stock with absolutely zero wobble. So far we just have computer generated photos which you can see below. I’ll be sure to update this article as more details and pictures become available.
When designing our newest line to our Fortis family of products, we spent a lot of time thinking about the over all design and function of our buttstock. Lightweight? Of course, we helped start the change in the industry with our lightweight designs – but we also like our products to be robust and withstand the abuse we throw at it. Form as well as function each and every product we introduce – that’s Fortis.
Introducing our newest part – our aluminum butt stock, the Fortis LA™. It’s an all aluminum Lever Action (LA) stock that utilizes mil-spec buffer tubes. That’s right – slip off the plastic stock and upgrade your rifle immediately. The lever action is what clamps down onto the buffer tube so there’s no rattle or movement and our patent pending design is is one of a kind.
– Material: Aircraft Grade 6061-T6 Aluminum
– Finish: Military Specification Type III Hard Coat Anodized
– Fits standard milspec buffer tubes (not included)
– Lever action tightens onto the buffer tube for robust grip and no rattle
– Weight – TBD – but you won’t be disappointed
– Made in the USA!
Keep an eye here on AR15NEWS for additional updates regarding the new Fortis LA Stock. You can also head on over to www.FortisMfg.com and sign up to be notified when the LA Stock in available for purchase.
Pretty sure I have a QD End Plate on just about every rifle I’ve ever built but they all require you to get your big (sometimes gloved) hands into this tiny area to attach/detach the QD sling swivel. The new Sloped Quick Disconnect End Plate (SQD-EP) addresses that issue and gives you a nice ambi QD sling mount. It also covers up some of the castle nut for a cleaner look. I will definitely pick one of these up for my next build and see how it goes. Looks like a great design. Read more about it and check out the pics below.
The Phase 5™ Sloped Quick Disconnect End Plate (SQD-EP) was designed to replace the standard AR15/M4 carbine end plate. While still meeting the requirements of the original design, the SQD-EP is lighter and QD Swivel compatible.
PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA FROM USA RAW BILLET 7075-T6 ALUMINUM.
– Compatible with mil-spec carbine reciever extensions, commercial-spec reciever extensions, and all Phase 5 Pistol Buffer Tubes on nearly all AR15/M4/.308 AR Variant lower recievers.
– Lightweight and sturdy 7075-T6 billet aluminum construction is about 80% stronger than 6061-T6 aluminum.
– Uses a standard AR15/M4 carbine Lower reciever extension castle nut (not included).
– Accepts all push button QD swivels and QD slings.
– QD mount is at a 30 Degree angle from the lower reciever to allow a 360 Degree rotation for ambidextrious use.
– Lighter than the standard stamped steel reciever extention end plate (0.39 oz vs 0.48 oz.
The SQD-EP is in-stock and shipping now. Normally I would just link to the manufacturer (Phase5WSI.com) for new product announcements but I also just noticed that these are available at an intro price at www.RainierArms.com now through 9/15/16.

As an avid AR owner/builder I have lots of experience piecing together rifles and the tools that are required to do that. I’ve used pretty much everything from the super cheap to pretty pricey when it comes to Armorer’s Tools. Most of your “inexpensive” Armorer’s Tools are, for the most part, made for the AR owner who will build a rifle once or twice a year and are prone to marring you rifle parts and tend to break during use. Some just flat out don’t work as advertised and are a “jack of all, master of none” type of design. I’m always looking out for the next must have armorer’s tools. Geissele Automatics did it with their Reaction Rod and now it looks like Fire 4 Effect has done it with their new F4E AWS (Armorer’s Wrench Set).
Instead of one wrench that is supposed to do everything, the F4E AWS consists of 3 separate wrenches including a Barrel Nut Wrench, Castle Nut Wrench and Muzzle Device Wrench. This design made it so the portion of the wrench you are trying to use is positioned in the center with an extended handle on both ends of the wrench. On each of those handles are cutouts for use with a torque wrench and the suggested torque settings are actually etched on. The Castle Nut Wrench has an amazing design to it that doesn’t allow it to tear up your castle nut or buffer tube and the Barrel Nut Wrench features 9 points of contact that are all replaceable if one gets bent. Just seems like an extremely well thought out set of wrenches. Check out the pics, video and details below.
NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT!
The Fire 4 Effect team is proud to announce the F4E Armorers Wrench Set! Developed by Master Gunsmith and former Army Marksmanship Unit NCOIC Matt Haidu the Armorers Wrench Set or AWS consists of a Barrel Wrench, Castle Nut Wrench and Muzzle Device Wrench.
Manufactured from water jet cut mild steel that has been CNC milled, laser engraved with a custom cerakote finish the AWS is designed to provide a lifetime of use for the AR15 armorer. Each wrench has a life time warranty.
The Barrel Nut Wrench provides 9 points of contact on the barrel nut and features hardened steel roll pins which can be easily replaced by the individual armorer.
The Castle Nut Wrench uses recessed castle nut lugs for improved lock up during assembly and disassembly. The Castle Nut Wrench also doubles as a Receiver Extension / buffer tube wrench.
The Muzzle Device Wrench features a alignment groove to assist armorers while indexing muzzle devices.
Torque wrench attachment points have the corrected torque wrench calculation engraved on the Muzzle Device Wrench.
The Muzzle Device Wrench also features shoulder inlets to accommodate crush washer expansion.
All wrenches incorporate 2 handles for balanced manual torque application during assembly or reassembly.
If you are a serious AR build, not just a once a year builder, you will definitely need to get your hands on a set of these awesome wrenches. Fire-4-Effect offers a 10% MIL/LE discount with appropriate credentials. You can order your AWS at www.fire-4-effect.com
There are quite a few “PDW” style stocks on the market for the AR-15 right now. Most, if not all of them, use a shorter buffer tube setup with a modified buffer and spring to shorten the overall length of the stock which is what makes them great for use on a PDW (Personal Defense Weapon). Unfortunately, most of the PDW stocks on the market add multiple steps to disassemble the weapon and in some cases even require that you use a specific BCG. There are very few options out there that are truly drop-in setups that allow you to “shotgun” your upper and use any BCG you want. The new X Products R.O.C. (Rapid Operation Carbine) PDW Stock does just that allowing you to use any BCG you want “shotgun” your upper with out removing the front pivot pin or locking the buffer back. A couple of additional things to note is that it weights just 17.6 ounces and can be used on 9mm ARs, Direct Impingement and Piston systems. What’s even crazier…the price point is $350 with an intro price of just $289.95.
The X Products R.O.C. (Rapid Operation Carbine) Stock is the most adapted PDW stock design available in the smallest package. Ergonomic, easy to use and designed for a low profile, compact platform. The X Products ROC Stock set will fit on any Mil-Spec AR-15/M4 & HKMR556, HK 416 lower receiver. Tested and designed to be used with nearly ALL commercial and LE/Mil ammunition types. Easy to install and durable. Its 5 adjustment points give the shooter maximum versatility. To top it off, the R.O.C. Stock does NOT require a proprietary bolt carrier or special components. Use a true drop on PDW stock set solution for your HK 416C or AR/M4 PDW project. Made 100% in the USA.

New Frontier Armory is always pumping out awesome new products so it was no surprise to see their new Extra Heavy Blowback 8-Ounce Buffer pop up on their Facebook page. You might be asking…”What is a Blowback Buffer and why does it need to weigh a whopping 8-ounces?”. Well, it all has to do with Pistol Caliber AR’s.
Instead of using a gas system like a Direct Impingement AR to cycle the weapon, most Pistol Caliber AR’s (9mm, .40, .357 Sig, .45, etc) all use Blowback Operation. With a Blowback system their is a ton of energy throwing that BCG back and unless you do something to slow it down, it creates more felt recoil and it can tear things apart or cause excess wear. With Blowback ARs there is no Gas Block to adjust so your only option is to adjust the buffer weight. In comes the Extra Heavy 8-ounce Blowback Buffer from New Frontier Armory.
In my personal 9mm build I am running a 5.3 ounce H3 buffer. There is still more felt recoil than there needs to be but there aren’t too many buffer options out there that weigh more than the H3 buffer. NFA’s 8oz Blowback Buffer is made of solid Stainless Steel with an overall length of 4″ and would be a great next step in slowing down the BCG so its not slamming back so hard. It’s priced right too at just $39.99.
So, if you’re looking to smooth out your Pistol Caliber AR, the The New Frontier Armory Extra Heavy 8oz Blowback Buffer is definitely an option to look into. You can check them out at www.NewFrontierArmory.com.
Earlier today, Geissele Automatics quietly introduced a new product. The Super 42 Spring and Buffer utilizes 3 separate wires to form the spring which is stronger, more durable and quieter than a traditional AR buffer spring. The buffer comes as an H1 buffer but can be easily upgraded to an H2 or H3 buffer by purchasing the additional Tungsten weights and adding them to the buffer. Technical information and pictures listed below.
The Geissele Super 42 Spring was designed to improve the function and reliability of your AR-15 pattern rifle. Its unique spring design uses three independent strands of wire, just like the German MG42 Machine Gun. This concept acts as a harmonic damper and energy absorber by allowing the springs to flex separately from each other. This flex helps displace excess energy which decreases the chance of spring failure and assists with making your AR-15 more reliable.
Compared to the stock spring, The Geissele Super 42 Spring has a decreased tendency to lose length and force over a given round count. As an added bonus, it removes the annoying spring reverberations (twang) heard and felt by the shooter through the buttstock. The Super 42 Spring has a 15% stronger average return force than the standard buffer spring. This will assist in stripping rounds out of the magazine when operating with a dirty weapon or when using steel-case ammo.
You can purchase the new Geissele Super 42 Spring and Buffer at www.Geissele.com.

If you’ve been paying attention at all to the AR industry you will know that two of the most popular ways to shorten the length of an AR are to either build an AR Pistol or use a PDW stock. MVB Industries, makers of one of the best PDW stocks out there, wanted to give the AR Pistol crowd some love too and has decided to create the MPK or Micro Pistol Kit. The MPK is a standalone version of the compact buffer system used in the ARC PDW Stock kit. It does not accept a stock making it perfectly legal to use on an AR Pistol. Just like its big brother, it allows you to use any mil spec BCG you want and also allows you to shotgun the upper unlike most other compact buffer systems.
For those who like a super compact AR Pistol without the desire to use any of the Pistol Stabilizing Braces/Blades, etc., this is a perfect piece to your puzzle. Comes standard with an H1 buffer but you can choose to upgrade to an H2, H3 or 9mm Buffer as well.
The MVB MPK is the shortest, most compact pistol buffer kit on the market and my friends at AVGUNS have the exclusive on it and a special Intro Price. Find more information and get in on this exclusive intro price at www.AVGUNS.com
I have a few LR-308 rifles, two of which I have personally built myself. Both of those rifles I wanted to run a standard AR-15 stock and buffer tube on instead of say a .308 PRS. Not only is it nice to have the option to swap stocks with any of my other ARs or to use stocks such as the Magpul UBR but the AR-15 buffer tube is slightly shorter than the AR-10 buffer tube making it a bit more compact. I’ve shown this setup to tons of people and they love it. To do this I’ve used what is called an LR-308 Carbine Buffer and the LR-308 Carbine Spring.
My FALKOR Defense .308 16″ with a normal AR-15 UBR stock installed.
So far so good but I’ve been thinking about increasing the buffer weight to reduce felt recoil a bit and just make it even smoother. My current buffers weigh in at just 3.8 ounces which is pretty light. Most LR-308 Heavy Buffers are close to $100 so last night, when KAK Industry told me about there new LR-308 Carbine Heavy Buffer, I was all ears.
As you may already know, KAK Industry makes all of their parts in house so they not only make sure their Quality Control is top notch but also they can pass on the savings to their customers. The new KAK LR-308 Carbine Heavy Buffer is made from superior 304 grade stainless steel for durability, hardness, and longevity vs the typical 303 grade stainless steel. They also have solid tungsten cores and weigh 5.5 ounces. Whats even more impressive is that they are selling them at just $55 each. At that price it is a no-brainer to upgrade to the heavy buffer.
These are available for purchase now. I literally just ordered some other parts from KAK Industry last night and should have added a couple of these too. If you’ve got an 308 AR or are in the process of building one, and want to run an AR-15 buffer tube on it, my suggestion is to go with this LR-308 Carbine Heavy Buffer and an LR-308 Carbine Buffer Spring. KAK Industry is an awesome small business to show some support to.
