If you’ve followed AR15NEWS for any decent length of time you’ve probably noticed we build lots of ARs. Some times, as an AR builder, it’s easy to get in a rut and kind of build the same thing over and over again which gets boring. All it takes is a bit of imagination and planning and your next build can be the best one you’ve ever put together. This is the very case with my most recent build.
Believe it or not I had SBR’d this Rainier Arms forged lower well over a year ago but had no idea what I wanted to do with it. Then it came to me and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. From there it was just a matter of time before I had the parts in hand and ready to build.
Lets start out with a few closer shots. From this angle you can see the Rainier Arms ambi safety, Juggernaut Tactical ambi charging handle and Scalarworks OPS (On Point Sights) fixed rear sight.
As I mentioned above, this build got started as a Rainier Arms Forged A-DAC lower that I bought and Form 1’d just before the ATF41P effective date. I added a Rainier Arms forged upper and ambi safety, CMC Triggers Flat 3.5lb Trigger and LPK, Superlative Arms Piston Kit, Juggernaut Tactical ambi charging handle, Geissele MK4 rail and Scalarworks OPS Fixed Sights and Low Drag Mount for the Aimpoint T1 and a SureFeed Magazines 20 Round mag.
Of course as a Rainier Arms SBR build I chose to use their 10.5″ .223 Wylde barrel. Covered it with a Geissele MK4 rail, Arisaka Defense 300/IR Series Scout Light and Inline Scout Mount, SureFire SR07 switch, Scalarworks OPS Fixed Front Sight, Magpul vertical grip and Griffin Armament Taper Mount Supresspr Mount. The Superlative Arms Piston Kit gas block is under there somewhere. 😜
Here’s another angle of the business end on the new Rainier Arms SBR build. From this angle you can now see how accessible the Superlative Arms Piston Kit gas block is under the rail. This isn’t like many piston kits were you have one or two settings. Its more like a Piston Kit that has a built in fully adjustable gas block so you can really tune it in.
This next shot gives you a better idea of how tidy things are on this build. It’s got everything I need and nothing I don’t. The Scalarworks OPS fixed sights and mount for the Aimpoint T1 are absolutely amazing.
And here it is. Hope you guys enjoyed a pretty detailed look at my new Rainier Arms SBR build. In the end, this SBR turned out even better than I had pictured it but the initial imagination and passion to create another gun is what got it all started. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to just slap together the first complete rifle you can. Take your time with your next build, map it out, think about what would make you smile every time you see it and then build that.
Here’s the full run down of parts for this build. If you want to copy it, be my guest. Would make for a great AR Pistol build too.
Already had a chance to get the gas dialed in on the piston kit and man this thing is smooth. Will be getting some range time this week with this gun getting it sighted in. Will let you guys know how it runs soon.

Geissele Automatics just introduced two new products and as always …. Geissele does not disappoint.
First up is the new Airborne Charging Handle which is a nearly identical copy to the original Super Charging Handle except that the ambi levers are shorter making it more low profile. As you can imagine by the name, this model was designed for some special guys who like to jump out of planes with guns but you too can get your hands on these new charing handles at www.Geissele.com.
Now for a sneak peek at the new Geissele SMR MK13 rail. The MK13 is a slimmer and lighter version of the typical Geissele rail. It does have the picatinny rail sections machined in at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock spots similar to the MK4. You can sign up for notifications at Geissele.com. These will be available for purchase very soon.

We received an email from UCWRG (Umbrella Corporation Weapons Research Group) the other day that had some good intel in it and wanted to share it with anyone who didn’t receive the email as well.
If you resisted the urge to immediately click over and buy one of the UCWRG Raptor charging handles that were back in-stock and kept reading they included some good info on what changes are going on at UCWRG right now. New UCWRG BCGs will be released soon and they continue to have an issue with getting forgings that are up to their high quality standards.
If you kept reading past that you get to what we all are interested in…UCWRG BILLET!! I am fortunate to own one of the very first UCWRG billet ambi lowers ever made and love it (its featured in a lot of my SBR photos). UCWRG has never been able to keep up with demand for their products but it appears they may have figured out some of their production dilemmas as they are about to release a NEW billet lower and drumroll….billet upper. Photos and details below.
We have a new billet lower design complete and we’re excited to get them out there. While we’d like to have receivers ready before the election, we’re pushing to have them finished before Christmas. Timelines can change, especially after November. Like our first billet design these will include the ADAC for right side bolt catch. We’ve made a few improvements to this lower; the magwell bevel is deeper and by popular request we’ve added a tension screw. You might also notice we’ve switched the logo from the 3D version to our standard deep laser engraved umbrella. These lower receivers still feature our unique magwell geometry and are WEDM cut for an even smoother finish. Billet uppers will follow soon after the lowers are released to complete the pair.
So, if you’ve wanted to get on the UCWRG train, your chance might be coming sooner than you realize. I hope this means good things going forward for UCWRG and they do make a phenomenal product. Getting it out to the consumers is the key. You can check out all of the UCWRG products at www.UCWRG.com.
Cross Machine Tool has been teasing us little sneak peeks of a mysterious 9mm PDW for some time but it wasn’t until now that they released information and full pictures of the ARMINI™. The ARMINI™ is a self contained 9mm PDW that takes Glock mags. It features Ambi Controls (something other 9mm AR’s don’t offer), a Non-Reciprocating Forward Side-Charging Handle and an awesome Side Folding Stock that locks into the rail system doubling as a Vertical Forward Grip. It is also extremely lightweight at just 3lb 4oz without the stock or 4lb 2oz with the stock.
The Patent Pending ARMINI™ can be seen at the Northwest Shooting Sports Expo this weekend August 27th -28th in Tacoma, WA. The ARMINI™ takes the term American Sub Gun to a whole new level. Although it may look similar to any other pistol caliber AR, it is not. Everything from the bolt, forward charging handle, receivers, buffer system has been designed around pistol caliber cartridges fed from a standard Glock magazine. Weights- 3lbs 4oz. Pistol configuration. 4lbs 2oz with folding buttstock/forward grip configuration.
Left side of the ARMINI™ that displays the patent pending design functions of the folding buttstock/forward grip combination & the non reciprocating forward charging handle.
The Cross Machine Tool ARMINI™ will be exclusively licensed to Rainier Arms and will be available through the Rainier Arms website or in-store. You’ll also be happy to hear that the ARMINI™ will be sold in a “Pistol” configuration with the stock being sold as an optional product. This makes it so you can purchase your firearm and take it home with you, then submit a Form 1 to SBR it when you’re ready. Production Cross Machine Tool ARMINI’s™ will be available Early 2017.

Most of you who know who FALKOR Defense is know them as the manufacturer of some amazing rifles and gun parts such as their Mirrored Ambi AR-15/AR-10 Receiver Sets, PETRA 300WM rifle, etc. FALKOR Defense has a plan to be know for much more. Behind the scenes, their “ShadowWorks” R&D team has been creating some awesome gun accessories as well and those accessories are now starting to become available for purchase.
Most recently they have started shipping their new “MANTIS” precision bipod. The MANTIS features adjustable swivel and cant and the legs can be moved forward or back independent of each other. To extend the legs you simply pull them out to the length you need and then to retract them you just push a button and they snap all the way back in.
They have also released their new “Velocity” Glock Mag Extensions that not only add capacity to your Glock Mags but give your mags a stronger base pad and the added weight can help ensure your mags drop free when empty.
Another product they have released is their MACH-15 (AR-15) and MACH-10 (AR-10) ambi charging handles. I have one of the MACH-15’s and they are extremely well built and function perfectly.
As you can see, lots of awesomeness coming out of FALKOR Defense right now and way more to come. You can check out all of the new products from FALKOR Defense at www.FALKORDefense.com.
FALKOR Defense has just announced they are now shipping their MACH 15 ambi charging handles. The MACH 15 features a large latch on both sides of the charging handle for ease of use with either hand. From personal experience with their MACH 10 (7.62 model) ambi charging handle, I can tell you these are very nice. If you are looking for an ambi charging handle that not everyone else has yet, head on over to www.FALKORDefense.com to pick one up.
MACH 15 ambidextrous charging handle by FALKOR Defense. Built for the right or left handed shooter, the MACH 10 charging handle makes charging your firearm from both sides of your receiver comfortable and easy. These charging handles allow for use of either the finger and thumb grip or the palm of the hand to be used to charge the rifle on both the strong and support side. With oversized levers on both sides it makes it ideal for firearms with optics, shooters with gloves or for the shooter that wants to take advantage of ambi control. Made in the USA from aircraft grade 7075 aluminum and steel internal parts.
In case you missed it, just before Christmas Geissele Automatics gave AR owners all over the country a Christmas present of sorts by releasing a sneak peek at a couple of new products that will be coming soon. As you may already know, Geissele has been working on a new Scope Mount for a DOD (Department of Defense) customer since early 2015 and will be available for consumer purchase in 2016.
As if Geissele Scope Mounts weren’t good enough, just prior to Christmas they released an image that had every AR owners mouth watering. In the image (see below) there was a sneak peek at the new Geissele Ambi Charging Handle and Geissele T1/T2 micro red dot mount. The Ambi Charging Handle looks like it has a nice curve to the handles which should help you really get a good grip on it for ease of use and the T1/T2 mount looks low profile but stout.
Another new product coming soon is a new scope mount for the 50 BMG rifle. As you can imagine, due to recoil you can’t just use any old scope mount on a 50 BMG. The new Geissele 50 BMG Scope Mount will feature a 3 bolt design for the mount to rifle interface as well as a 3 bolt design for the scope ring caps to clamp on and hold the optic nice and tight over a larger surface area. If you own a 50 BMG rifle, this might be something to look into!
As you can see, Geissele isn’t just sitting around happy to be making Triggers and Rails. They are working continually to add more and more to their lineup all the time. Now if we could just talk Bill into making complete rifles we would be all set. 🙂 For more information on Geissele product, head on over to www.Geissele.com.
Griffin Armament is offering 10% off site wide on everything except their suppressors for Cyber Monday. This is a great opportunity to add a new muzzle brake, BCG, suppressor mount, ambi charging handle, offset sights, etc. and save a few bucks. Head on over to www.GriffinArmament.com and check out their stuff. You might find something you just can’t live without!
