If you’ve been looking for BUIS lately you’ve probably noticed that what used to be a one or two dog show has all of a sudden become a main event with some really nice contenders. Now you have to decide… “Are these bulky sights okay or should I look for a super compact set?”, “Do I want to go really cheap or really expensive?”, “Do I want normal 90 degree BUIS or should I go for a set of offset ones?”, on and on the decision making goes until your head is spinning. Apparently Griffin Armament has had this same experience because their new M2 (Micro Modular) Sights address all of that and more. The new M2 Sights are very compact, can be user configured in 90 degree or 45 degree offset and the price point even for the complete “Full Deployment Kit” is right in line or cheaper than many non-modular BUIS.
The M2 Sights can be purchased in a 90 Degree Kit, 45 Degree Offset Kit or the Full Deployment Kit which comes with both 90 Degree and 45 Degree mount plates. The Full Deployment Kit retails for just $185. They also sell just the mounting plates, so if you go for a 90 Degree now instead of the full kit you can still convert them to 45 Degree Offset BUIS down the road. Read more about this awesome new product below or head on over to www.GriffinArmament.com.
Griffin Armament is proud to introduce affordable Micro Modular Sights (M2) compatible with Picatinny rail systems. Griffin M2 sights offer an industry first, patent pending, modular base plate system. Constructed from QPQ Treated 17-4 and ordnance grade steel, Griffin M2 Sights were designed to be the correct product for every backup sight application.
A shooter can use these durable, low profile sights in a 12 o’clock mounted application while having the flexibility to reconfigure them to ambidextrous 45 degree angle sights using the alternate and available angle plates. This flexibility ensures these sights can be used by anyone and will never end up in a box of undesirable legacy kit. The full M2 deployment kit includes the front and rear sight assemblies as well as both vertical and angled bases for a complete modular system. However, sights and bases are available separately for users who wish to buy parts as needed. The front A2 sight provides elevation adjustment while ensuring maximum aftermarket support for your favorite post, be it tritium, fiber optic, match grade, or otherwise. An extremely low profile, snag resistant, slotted rear windage screw, affords easy but more importantly secure adjustability.
Robust spring tension of both front and rear flip up assemblies ensures accurate repeatability every time the sight towers are actuated.
Never before has a product in this category offer this degree of flexibility. Griffin M2 Sights have a minimal foot print, and are among the smallest backup sights on the market. For a mere 2 and half ounces your rifle can be equipped with a durable iron sight system, to provide aiming capability in rain, snow, or fog, on or off axis without dependence on batteries or glass.

Do you have a SureFire ST07 Tape Switch? If you’ve bought any SureFire Scout Lights chances are you have an ST07 somewhere. If you’re like me, almost all of them are in a box of spare parts in my gun room because I upgraded to something like the expensive SR07 rail grabber tape switch or went with the clicky tail cap. The ST07, to me, is pretty useless straight out of the box. Its a good switch but I don’t like zip tying, taping or velcro’ing it to my gun. However, the ST07 may have found new life.
A company called Cloud Defensive just introduced their new LCS (Light Control System) which is a mount specifically designed to securely attach your ST07 to any 1913 picatinny rail section. Most shooters will prefer to mount it to the top (12 o’clock) section of the rail but I assume you could even use an offset picatinny rail mount as well. The LCS also has the option of the ICC (Integrated Cable Clamp) which helps route the cable of the ST07 tape switch and keeps it from being able to get snagged on anything.
Introducing the Light Control System (LCS) with optional Integrated Cable Clamp (ICC). Designed for the Surefire ST07 tape switch. A vastly superior mounting platform for your tape switch that allows you to secure excess cable under the mount. No more improvised mounting solutions. No more weak links on your rifle. Two problems solved with one product.
Another reason why the LCS mount might be just what you’re looking for…its just $50. You can also upgrade to the LCS with the Integrated Cable Clamp for another $10 more. Cloud Defensive just put these up on their website so head on over to www.CloudDefensive.com and get one today.
A few years back, AR15NEWS was one of the first websites to introduce the original INFORCE WML (Weapon Mounted Light) and we’re happy to help introduce the Gen2 WML and WMLx lights. The new WML and WMLx lights come a number of new features and have nearly double the lumen output across the board. Take a look at the press release and images below. The new Gen2 WML and WMLx should be available at retailers very soon.
Emissive Energy debuts four new Gen2 units in its WML and WMLx White and White/Infrared Series
North Kingstown, RI – Emissive Energy Corporation, an industry leader in weapon mounted lighting products, debuts today the next generation of the WML and WMLx product lines. The new products continue to be lightweight and powerful as discovered with the original WML and WMLx Series, but with several new upgrades.
Extensively tested for performance, durability and reliability, customers won’t find a more dependable light on the market today. Incredibly powerful yet compact in size, the Gen2 WML and WMLx Series integrates with MIL-STD-1913/NAR rail and features a new reinforced polymer body which offers higher-impact resistance and durability. Patented heat dissipating vents provide improved LED thermal management and an ergonomic, contoured non-slip switch makes for easy on/off. There are three operating modes: constant, momentary and strobe (strobe is easily disabled) and the new products are waterproof up to 66 feet.
“With the new enhancements, all four Gen2 products offer brighter lumens and an all-inclusive rail clamping design that integrates seamlessly, providing simple, fast, mounting with no need for additional tools. The easy-to-operate lockout system ensures the light isn’t turned on until the operator is ready,” says Matthew S. Wolfe, Vice President of Emissive Energy Corporation. “We continually explore new ways to provide high-quality products and our new Gen2 products are no exception.“

The new Griffin Armament Low-Pro RIGID rail kits are now available! The kits include your choice of a 8.6″, 10.5″, 13.5″ or 15″ complete Griffin Low-Pro RIGID™ MLOK rail system, Griffin Primo Gas Block, Griffin Rail Shield 4-piece rail cover kit and the Wrench and Hardware to mount this kit to your weapon. If you are looking for a nice upgrade to your current rifle or looking to finish off a build, these kits are a high quality yet surprisingly low cost option. Check out the press release, pics and video below. You can purchase these kits now at www.GriffinArmament.com.
Griffin AR15 rail kits include rail panels, gas block assemblies, and all tools and hardware needed for a turnkey rail system.
The design objective for the Griffin Low-Pro RIGID™ rails were to provide a slim, ultralight M-LOK rail, with increased rigidity over current similar market options.
“We had been looking at the market for a while and noticed that there were two types of rails essentially. Rails that were beefy and strong, and rails that were slim and unfortunately weaker. We wanted to combine the desirable attributes of both category products into one optimal rail system.”, Austin stated, Primary owner and Lead engineer for Griffin. He went on, “The final design resulted in 70% more rigidity than current similar market slim rails. This is important for those who need to use IR lasers as armed professionals or for hunting. There are a lot of great options now in IR laser aimer products that have solid mounting and solid bodies and we wanted to make a slim rail that provided industry leading point of aim / point of impact for those aimers.”
Low-Pro RIGID™ rails feature a 7075 aluminum barrel nut which can be installed with the included Griffin Armorers Wrench. The mounting is done with included shims and flat head cap screws for an ultra-flush and low profile mating to the receiver. 17-4 stainless QD flush cups are included which thread into the barrel nut through holes in the rail.
The kits include the Griffin Primo Gas Block™, a 416R stainless .750” ID gas block which can be set screwed in place and / or pinned.
Additionally, the rail kits include the Griffin RAIL SHIELD™ panels as standard equipment. This 4 piece kit provides a 4.6” length surface for heat protection and griping. The user can choose to use the flat bottom panel or angled grip panel for enhanced recoil control.
I recently had a chance to put some of the new Griffin Armament furniture kits to use and so far over the first few weeks I have really enjoyed them. They’ve been run at the range a bit and definitely have a great feel and a very unique look. Even though I liked the unique look at first, it has grown on me even more. I will be writing up a full review on these once I’ve had more range time with them. I’ve seen some torture testing they did with the ECS stock and was pleased to see it outlasted other stocks like the Military issued SOPMOD stock. Below are some crappy photos I took 😉 and the press release from Griffin Armament. The new Griffin Armament furniture kits are now shipping. Order yours at www.GriffinArmament.com.
The design objective for the Griffin AR furniture products were to bring quality, functional options to the market that offered unique benefits at affordable prices. The ECS™ (Extreme Condition Stock), RailShield™ M-LOK™ compatible rail covers, and A3 grip are available in Black, FDE, OD Green, and Grey.
“The Extreme condition stock definitely took the most effort.”, Austin stated, Primary owner and Lead engineer for Griffin. He went on to say, “I wanted to make something unique and better. There is a lot of stuff that has come out on the market the last few years that is unique but doesn’t necessarily add any new function or improvement over what already existed.”
The Extreme Condition Stock features a proprietary low drag latching system designed around a beefy stainless tool steel locking pin. This mechanism in conjunction with optimal geometry, and impact modified injected materials, allow the ECS™ to pass a 10 foot drop test when used with the Griffin MRE-HD (Maritime Receiver Extension Heavy Duty). In Griffin’s testing, the ECS stock, when used in conjunction with their MRE, allowed direct impingement Ar15s to pass an “Over The Beach Test”. Holes in the rear butt plate and along the sides of the stock communicate with holes in the MRE allowing for reduced pressure in the operating system when fired immediately after the firearm is removed from the water. The stock has a canted rear butt angle for improved ergonomics to the body. This also ensures recoil is kept high and in-line with the barrel to minimize muzzle rise. Also the top of the stock is “beard friendly” meaning there is no hole present as found in mil-spec style stocks. A low profile anti-rotation QD sling swivel socket is the provided means of sling attachment.
The A3 grip is simple in that it doesn’t have a plug on the bottom. “We polled a lot of our friends from military and contracting and a very small percentage ever used storage in plug grips even when they had them.” Said a representative from Griffin. The goal of this product was to make a very affordable improved grip over the A2 grip. “It features a more vertical grip angle and deletes the annoying finger shelf that nobody really likes.”, He went on to state.
The RailShield™ panel kit sections are 4.6” long ensuring that you can get a full hand grip on the panels protecting your hand from thermal transfer of a hot rail if you are going through a lot of ammo fast. The styling of the kit matches the A3 grip. Four pieces are included. The user has the option of running the bottom flat panel or palm stop panel. The palm stop geometry is placed as rearward as possible, again allowing a full hand grip while giving the shooter an anchor point to pull the gun hard into the shoulder pocket to control recoil and grab fast follow up shots.

I’ve been using the Scalarworks LDM-Micro mount with a T-1 for a while now and it is absolutely awesome. The combination of high quality construction, light weight and easy to use QD system make it my favorite T-1/T-2 mount to date. They told me there were working on some new mounts and low and behold, a few weeks later they are now introducing their new Trijicon MRO QD Mount which according to Scalarworks is the worlds lightest QD model. Check out the press release and pics below.
SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – March 9, 2016 – Scalarworks, manufacturer of high-performance optic mounts, is pleased to introduce the Low Drag MountTM for Trijicon MROTM sights; the lightest quick-detach Trijicon MROTM mount in existence – weighing only 1.17oz, including sight screws.
The LDM/MRO is a lightweight, low-profile, quick-detach optic mount that is compatible with MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails and the Trijicon MROTM (Miniature Rifle Optic).
Like all Scalarworks Low Drag MountsTM; the LDM/MRO has a monolithic base made of high-strength 7075-T6 Aluminum, and features our proprietary recoil-proof notched thumbscrew with ball detent. It also has the same precision telescoping clamp as our popular Aimpoint Micro mount, which ensures a repeatable zerowith each installation.

American Defense Manufacturing just announced a few new red dot sight mounts. They are already well known for their Quick Detach scope mounts and red dot mounts but are adding a couple of cool options by way of a 33 degree and 45 degree offset mount for the Aimpoint T1/T2 red dot sight and the Trijicon RMR red dot sight.
As you are probably already aware, engaging targets at close range with a traditional magnified scope is not an easy thing to do. Many guys will install offset backup sights which can take more time to align the front and rear sight if you need to rapidly acquire a target. By using an offset red dot sight mount you get the benefit of not having to align anything, just put the red dot where it needs to be and fire.
Choose between 33 and 45 degree offsets and Left or Right hand style. There are other options out there but until today, none were being offered by ADM with their trusted QD system which is a big deal. You can check these out for yourself at the links below.
Thordsen Customs just introduced their new Picatinny Buffer Tube Adapter. This adapter will allow you to mount an AR Buffer Tube (pistol or carbine) to any gun with a vertical rear picatinny rail section. Guns such as the very popular Sig MPX typically come as a Pistol from the factory. The end user can now attach a buffer tube to use items such as the Thordsen Customs AR Pistol Cheek Rest Kit, Sig SB15 arm brace, Shockwave Stabilizer or if they have SBR’d the pistol they can easily add a collapsible AR-15 stock once the stamp comes back. If you’re looking for something like this, head on over to www.ThordsenCustoms.com and check them out.
Our new Picatinny Buffer Tube Adapter is a great addition to your Sig MPX, Sig P556XI, Rock River PDS, or any other pistol that utilizes a rear vertical picatinny rail. It gives a shooter the ability to add a cheekrest for greater stability or a stock for SBR conversions (federal tax stamp required).
The mounting method follows true STANAG (NATO Standard Agreement) protocol using the two back angles and the top of the rail as the contact points. The result is perfect alignment with the centerline of the firearm. A feature that is not attainable with typical side clamping adapters. Another bonus is that there are no visible fasteners or holes on the top and sides of the adapter for a clean sleek look.
Kinetic Development Group has just released the larger 7-SLOT model of their KINECT rail sections for M-LOK rails. KDG’s KINECT is a Quick Attach/Detach system for mounting accessories to M-LOK rails including rail sections, bipod mounts and soon offset light mounts as well. Just simply press the KINECT accessory onto the M-LOK rail and it releases wedges that lock the piece in place. If you’re looking for a true QD solution to mounting accessories on your M-LOK rail, this is it!
The Kinect™ by KDG for MLOK™ is a revolutionary QD mounting system that will change the way we attach accessories to our modular weapons platforms. Much like the Sidelok™ optics mounts, Kinect™ insures proper and easy installation, eliminating common variables that would cause issues (ie: over tightening). Although revolutionary, Kinect™ is quite simple in its operation. There are two spring-loaded wedges in the base of the Kinect™ mounting point. When you press the accessory or rail section down in the MLOK™ slot, two deployment triggers get pressed against the rail firing the wedges into place. There is nothing more frustrating that fiddling with an allen wrench (if you can find it) to get your accessories on and off your weapon with traditional modular rail sections. This changes the whole dynamic of the MLOK™ system and really makes every accessory truly removable with the ability to mount it in a second when needed.
Length: 3.73″ Uses two MLOK section
Width: .82″ (20.9mm)
Height: .41″ (10.5mm)
Finish: Black Anodized
Compatibility: Compatible with any MLOK rail system. (**Rail must be within proper Magpul MLOK Spec for KInect to work properly. If rail is not in spec, Kinect will not work.)
Recently I showed you guys the Impact Weapons Components low profile KeyMod Bipod Mount. Just yesterday they introduced their new M-LOK version that uses their proprietary KML technology allowing it to mount to both M-LOK rails as well as the original MOE hand guards. I absolutely love my little KeyMod Bipod Mounts from IWC and now I’m gonna have to get a few of these too. At least they are affordable. They are listed at just $15.95 but you can save 5% by using the code “ar15news” at checkout on www.ImpactWeaponsComponents.com.
