NEW!! Centurion Arms CMR Rail System

Posted on May 16th, 2013 by ar15news

After weeks and months of being teased by all of the Stickman gunporn pictures of the new Centurion Arms CMR rail system the wait is finally over.  The CMR is a modular tubular style rail that features low profile attachment options such as 1913 picatinny rail sections, bipod mount, light mount, handguard covers, etc.  As with the original Centurion Arms rail, the C4, the CMR is built to withstand the worst punishment you can throw at it.  The CMR will be available as a 12″ and 14″ model in both 5.56 and 7.62/.308 versions.  The 7.62/.308 models shipped first so they are in-stock right now over at RainierArms.com.  The first batch of 5.56 models will be shipping today so you’ll start to see them in-stock over the next few days at the dealers listed below.  Just in case you missed some of the awesome photos of the CMR I’ve added some for you drool over courtesy of the one and only Stickman.

One of the coolest things I’ve seen lately is watching people use Crowdfunding campaigns to realize their dreams of manufacturing a product and having it be a success.  Crowdfunding is the use of a website to take pre-orders at a discounted price on the new product which helps the designer afford the initial cost of manufacturing the product.  We were excited to help the iOCover become a success on KickStarter.  They have now been taken over by Tango Down and are flying off shelves as fast as they can stock them.  The Sharps Bro’s Hellbreaker AR15 lower is another success story.   The latest potential success story is that of the Saffle Industries SI-RIP which is a carbine length Quad Rail with an integrated Bipod.

Saffle SI-RIP 1

The Saffle Industries SI-RIP was designed to look like a standard Carbine Length Drop-In Quad Rail while housing a fully adjustable compact bipod.  The legs of the SI-RIP’s bipod store inside the quad rail until needed at which time the user unlocks the system, pulls the legs out and locks them in place.  In the event you find yourself on an uneven surface each leg can be adjusted by a simple twist to untighten, adjust height and twist to tighten it up again.  The first SI-RIP will be for the AR-15 with the carbine length forend.  As business grows they will expand their product line and will offer the SI-RIP for a wide variety of weapon platforms and sizes including the mid length and rifle length AR15 as well as working on the production for the AK47.

Specs
-   6061 T6 aluminum

-   Hard Coat Anodizing (Type III)
-   Dimensions:  L-6.5xW-2.65xH-2.5
-   Bi-pod legs are .38″ thick (and are very durable)
-   Weight 1.63lbs

Made in USA (Nevada)

Saffle SI-RIP 2

Despite the compact diameter of the bipod legs, they are designed to be very strong.  The owner of Saffle Industries said he has actually stood on top of his AR15 with the legs fully extended.  I don’t look at the SI-RIP as a solution for Snipers or Designated Marksmen.  Instead I see it being used more for those who aren’t going to need a bipod on a daily basis but want to have the ability to set up and make the longer shot if needed at any time.  I think of LEO’s like my own brother that carry AR15′s in the trunk of their cruiser.  They aren’t going to want a normal bipod on their rifle.  Normal bipod’s can get in the way, get caught up on your gear, add a lot of weight and take up valuable rail space on such a short rail that can be better used for items such as lights or grips.  With the SI-RIP you can keep your normal accessory setup in place and at a moments notice, deploy a fully functional bipod as seen in the pictures below.

So here’s how you can help.  Saffle Industries is using a Crowdfunding campaign to fundm the production cost of their new SI-RIP Quadrail by raising $30,000 in just 30 days.  When the SI-RIP comes out it will have a retail price of $199 but right now you can pre-order a SI-RIP through their Crowdfunding campaign on Rockethub.com at a discounted price of $149 for one or $249 for two.  You’re probably asking yourself exactly what I asked.  ”What happens if they don’t meet their funding goal?  Do I get my SI-RIP still or am I out my money?”  The cool part is you are still guaranteed to get your SI-RIP.  I personally spoke with Jason Saffle about this as I wanted to make sure I did the right thing for my readers.  He said they already have everything ready to fill all orders that come in even if they don’t meet their goal.  As with all Crowdfunding campaigns, the success all depends on whether or not the potential backers (you) find this to be a product that you would buy.  So basically, the success of this project is up to you.  There are multiple different levels of funding you can do starting as low as just $5.  Every little bit helps and I think there should be enough interest that we as a group can make this another huge success story.  You can help fund the Saffle Industries SI-RIP on RocketHub.com.

Also, be sure to head on over to the Saffle Industries Facebook page for updates on the progress of this campaign.

NEW!! Seekins Precision MCSR-V2 Modular Rail

Posted on April 9th, 2013 by ar15news

Seekins Precision makes some of my absolute favorite rails.  I personally use their BAR rail on my AR Pistol and have a SAR rail on another rifle.  One of their most popular models is the MCSR (Modular Combat Suppressor Rail).  It features a perfectly round tube with slots to attach rail sections including a complete top rail section.  With the strong emphasis in the AR15 industry on KeyMod, Seekins Precision has announced the new MCSR V2 which now features KeyMod attachment slots at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and a slightly lower MSRP.  Check out the details below.  As soon as I get some larger pictures I will be sure to share them with you guys.

Seekins Precision is excited to announce the new
MCSR V2 rail with lower MSRP!

The MCSR V2 rail will be available in 7”, 9”, 10”, 12” and 15” lengths. We have designed the rail so that the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions will now accept all keymod accessories and have two anti-rotation QD points per side (6 total). The internal dimension of the MCSR V2 has increased to 1.8” to accommodate most suppressors on the market. The top picatinny rail is now a solid integrated part of the handguard.

All open orders for MCSR rails will be converted to the new MCSR V2 rail as the original MCSR rail has been discontinued and is no longer being produced.

With the addition of the keymod cuts on the sides of the MCSR V2 rail, we will no longer be shipping the Seekins Precision proprietary picatinny side sections with the new rail. However they will still be available for separate purchase.

Seekins Precision MCSR-2 KeyMod Rail 2

Our new retail price structure for the MCSR V2 is:

7” – $189.00
9” – $199.00
10” – $205.00
12” – $209.00
15” – $219.00

NEW!! ODIN Works KMod Forend

Posted on March 11th, 2013 by ar15news

ODIN Works has just announced their brand new KeyMod handguard which they are calling the KMod Forend.  I compare KeyMod to 300AAC Blackout.  In the beginning everyone thought 300AAC Blackout was just another round that will never catch on but now, less than 2 years later its all people are talking about.  The same can be said for KeyMod.  When VLTOR released the specs it was hard for people to wrap their heads around not having a 1913 picatinny rail but now more and more manufacturers are getting into the KeyMod Rail and Accessory market that its kind of exciting to see all of the new stuff coming out.  The KMod Forend was just announced today.  The 9.5″ and 12.5″ are both in-stock and ready for purchase.  You can pre-order the 15.5″ by emailing Alicia at alicia@odinworks.com.  Check out the details and pics of this great looking handguard below.
