**Press Release**

Griffin Armament is proud to announce the “Make Silencers Great Again Promotion” Effective immediately every silencer* shipping from Griffin’s manufacturing floor to its Dealers and Distributors will contain two $100 coupons which can be mailed to Griffins address in exchange for store credit on their website.  Boxes containing coupons will be sealed with a gold label.

“Sales are down unnecessarily”, said Evan Green business development manager at Griffin Armament. “When the markets have been rallying and jobs are being produced, consumer misunderstanding of the legislative process and the Hearing Protection Act, is hurting an otherwise stable industry. Many people who want to buy are sitting on discretionary spending in the hopes that HPA will soon pass. The entire industry has come to a very similar conclusion that it will be quite a while until HPA is able to pass if at all despite almost unanimous support. People not buying right now is only further delaying them from enjoying silencers. It just doesn’t make any sense and this shouldn’t have happened.  Unfortunately a lot of miss information was flying around and nobody in the industry was trying to educate consumers on how long it actually takes to get a bill to pass, what percentage of bills pass, that the legislative process usually takes hundreds of days etc. This bill in some form has been presented to congress since 2015 and this congressional session is closing in a few months, so it looks like it will be rolling to another year.  Griffin is just as hopeful as everyone else for the HPA. However having a realistic viewpoint on it is critical to the survival of the silencer industry and the Americans who work hard to move it forward.  The ‘Make Silencers Great Again’ promotion is the most we can do as a company to try to encourage spending right now.” Evan continued. “It’s honestly an amazing time to be a buyer.  I remember when I was younger and was spending my money on an OPS INC can and promotions didn’t exist in the market. You could barely even get a dealer to handle the sale for you. Muzzle devices had to be purchased separately from the silencer, etc. I remember having to help my local class 3 dealer to understand the paperwork because he did so few transactions. But times have changed and there are plenty of dealers on the market selling products at great prices and walking the customer through the purchase quickly while keeping them informed. This program is also a great way to let consumers know that we appreciate them, we’ve been wanting to so something like this for a while.”

I’m sure many of you have already heard that there was a large amount of layoffs at SilencerCo recently. As soon as some of the effected employees started posting updates on Facebook the news started to spread like wild fire. SilencerCo has remained relatively silent on what happened or why it happened but immediately tons of industry people started pointing fingers at the rush to buy prior to ATF-41F ruling from last year, the new HPA (Hearing Protection Act), etc. and it certainly seems like the perfect storm has occurred. I personally do not know anyone at SilencerCo but I do know quite a few guys at GEMTECH so I figured I would contact them to get their thoughts on the situation.

NFA Review Channel Suppressor CollectionPhoto by NFA Review Channel

Ron Martinez, the CEO of GEMTECH and ASA (American Suppressor Association) board member, is in favor of the Hearing Protection Act and has been saying since last November (by the way, he was with the Trump’s in New York on election night and at the inaugural ball) that we do not have sixty votes in the senate, which is needed to pass and his best analysis is that there are ten red states President Trump won that have democrat senators up for re-election. This leads him to believe that HPA will pass toward the end of 2018 as an election issue.

Ron Martinez had the following to say … “Unfortunately there have been some misleading statements about the Hearing Protection Act. It will not pass in the first 100 days. You have to understand the process in Washington DC. I met with Idaho Senator Crapo’s office, who is sponsoring the HPA bill in the Senate. It will take a while as I have said before. The bill sits now in the Senate Finance Committee trying to get to a hearing meeting. The process is long and will take until the end of 2018 at best.

There are many other bills as well as confirmations that will pass before HPA such ones regarding income tax cuts, corporate tax cuts, building a wall, the fight against ISIS, Obamacare, new supreme court nominee and cabinet.”

As you can imagine, there are tons of people who have thought “Well, I might as well wait until the HPA passes to buy a suppressor.” Unfortunately we don’t know when or even if the HPA will pass. Those that are holding out may be shocked when the company they wanted to buy a suppressor from after the HPA passes is maybe out of business or that there is a massive run on suppressors causing a lack of availability and inflated prices.

The moral of the story is…if you want to buy a suppressor, buy it now. Pay the $200 tax and start the process we’ve all become accustomed to. If/when the HPA passes you’ll most likely get that $200 back. Years from now we may all look back on this and think “Man it sure is a lot easier to buy a suppressor now than it was back then” but you sure won’t want to be caught up in the mad rush at the moment the HPA passes.

Black Creek, GA – July 20, 2016 – Daniel Defense, manufacturer of the world’s finest firearms and accessories, has taken suppressed weapons to the next level with the release of their new DDM4ISR rifle. This new rifle, designed for fulltime-suppressed fire and optimized for the .300 Blackout cartridge, features a fully integrated suppressor attached to its barrel, so it’s ready for suppressed service right out of the box.

DD ISR Integrally Suppressed Rifle 1

“This revolutionary rifle simplifies suppressor usage by eliminating variables and uncertainty,” said Daniel Defense VP of Sales Bill Robinson. “There’s no need to attach a suppressor and wonder if it’s mounted correctly and properly aligned. And no need to re-zero the weapon for suppressed vs. unsuppressed fire. The suppressor is literally part of the barrel.”

The high-performance suppressor—constructed of durable, heat-resistant metal alloys and coated with a protective high-temperature Cerakote-C finish—features a user-serviceable baffle core that can be easily removed for cleaning and maintenance. It is permanently attached to a 9-inch Cold Hammer Forged fluted barrel with a target crown for superb accuracy and reliability. Because the suppressor is a permanent part of the barrel, extending the barrel to the NFA-required 16 inches, the firearm is not classified as a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR) and only requires a single tax stamp, for the suppressor.

DD ISR Integrally Suppressed Rifle 1

Everything else about the DDM4ISR is classic Daniel Defense. It features a pistol-length gas system and comes standard with an MFR XL 15.0 modular handguard, which features a continuous 1913 Picatinny rail on top and Keymod attachment points at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. This longer handguard, in conjunction with a DD Buttstock and Pistol Grip, make this ergonomic rifle highly maneuverable and as versatile as the .300 Blackout rounds it fires. A resilient Mil Spec + Cerakote finish protects the rifle from the elements and adds to its overall aesthetic.

DD ISR Integrally Suppressed Rifle 2

Available in states where suppressor ownership is legal, the DDM4ISR has an MSRP of $3049.00 Learn more or purchase this rifle by visiting danieldefense.com or an authorized dealer.

These are now actual production units and can be purchased for a limited time at an introductory price. Check out the pics and details below.

I’ve finally decided to get involved in the world of NFA Ownership and I’m going to document my journey. Basically, I want to legally own an SBR, Suppressor, etc. As a life long gun owner in the state of Michigan, it was all but impossible to own Suppressors or SBR/SBS due to state regulations…that is until now. Over the past few years Michigan gun owners have spoken up and lobbied the State Legislators to lift the ban on Suppressors and most recently the ban on SBRs and SBSs. After all, why would a state feel they need tighter regulations than what our Federal Government does.

Coyote Rifleworks NFA TRust 2

As a family man with a wife and kids, I wanted to make sure there were no legal issues with my wife, or children as they get older, being in possession of my NFA regulated items. I decided to start with an NFA Trust but I’m new to this so I didn’t know where start. My buddy Stickman (widely regarded as one of the top weapons photographers in the industry) started his 100K Giveaway on Facebook a few weeks ago and one of the sponsors is a company called Coyote Rifleworks. They advertise $95 NFA Trusts and Same Day Turnaround. This sounded awesome, almost too good to be true, so I contacted them through Facebook to get some additional information. I got a very prompt/friendly response and we decided to talk on the phone. Eric spent an hour on the phone with me explaining how at Coyote Rifleworks they want to help as many people become NFA Owners as possible. They could charge more but don’t ever want anyone to say “I just couldn’t afford it.”. They’ve spent a ton of money having an attorney help them create the trust that you ultimately receive. I really felt comfortable with these guys so I decided to go for it.

Coyote Rifleworks NFA TRust 1

I will be documenting my entire process of becoming an NFA Owner from start to finish. You’ll know of any and all snags, if any, that I run into. My gut feeling is that this will be a very enjoyable, easy process. I can tell you right now I have already filled out the required information on Coyote Rifleworks’ website, called to make payment and received my trust paperwork back within a few hours. Now that’s impressive and I’m very happy so far. I will go into more detail on this process including what to do after you get your trust paperwork back in the next article in this series. You can keep track of my progress by following along on the website or using this specific thread URL: http://www.ar15news.com/category/ar15news-journey-to-nfa-ownership/ You can also get started on your very own NFA Trust now at www.CoyoteRifleworks.com.

Check out the pics and details below then head on over to www.WeaponOutfitters.com to snag one for yourself before they’re all gone.

Our friends at RifleGear just shot me an email letting me know they have some really cool, hard to come by, high end AR’s and Parts in-stock right now. If you have a taste for the finer things in life you will probably want to check out these two items listed below.

The first item they mentioned is the really cool DDM4 ISR 300 Blackout rifle from Daniel Defense. The ISR model is an Integrally Suppressed Rifle that pairs a 10.3″ barrel and a permanently attached suppressor. By permanently attaching the suppressor to the barrel it brings the length of the barrel to 16″, which means you only need one tax stamp which is for the suppressor. This rifle was debuted at SHOT Show 2013 and has been a really hot seller for Daniel Defense. RifleGear has a limited number of these in-stock right now and has the price reduced down to $2,999 with FREE SHIPPING and a $50 RifleGear Gift Card with purchase. More details and pictures at www.RifleGear.com.

SLR Rifleworks has just introduced their new premium adjustable gas block called the SENTRY. The SENTRY series of adjustable gas blocks are Smaller and Lighter that most if not all other adjustable gas blocks and will work with ANY AR15/AR10 handguard on the market today. I’ve actually used an older SLR Rifleworks adjustable gas block in the past and it was nice back then. These look even nicer and feature some great upgrades such as cutouts on the sides for weight savings and high end materials and manufacturing. They are also available in both Set Screw and Clamp On styles as well as sized for .750 or .936 gas block seats with additional sizes to come. Adjustable Gas Blocks are SLR Rifleworks specialty and it shows in their new SENTRY series.

620 SLR Rifleworks Sentry Adjustable Gas Block 2

620 SLR Rifleworks Sentry Adjustable Gas Block 2

FEATURES
– 100% Gas seal allows full cut off and prevents gas from fouling metering screw
– Complete disassembly is simple and take less than 10 seconds
– Metering screw and screw bore design allows repeatability and reliability only SLR has been able to deliver
– Single tool click to adjust gas metering
– Heat treated 4140 Precision machined gas block
– Nexturn Swiss precision metering screw
– 6AL-4V Titanium Leaf Spring detent mechanism
– 316 SS detent plunger
– NO tiny springs to corrode, break or seize / NO tiny ball to seize or get lost
– 100% Lifetime Guarantee

Below is some additional information from Todd, the owner of SLR Rifleworks.

The Sentry series are super low profile allowing AR15/AR10 use under pure tube HG’s. Those types of HG’s are super popular today so meeting that target was a no brainer. The Ti leaf spring allows more spring pressure for even more positive engagement along with total corrosion resistance. Getting rid of the coiled spring and ball is huge when looking at years and years of use. It relatively huge in comparison to a coiled spring as well.

The single screw on the side allows the entire gas block to be dissembled in less time than it takes to type this sentence. Total disassembly is nice if you go for 2 years without cleaning your rifle or you shoot a bunch of .22LR though it like i do.

The SS plunger under the leaf spring floats but is captured from totally bottoming out in the adjustment screw slots. This allows carbon to pass through without building up and also allows the adj screw to be removed without fear of losing the plunger.

The adjustment screw has been refined with a proprietary threading and shape allowing the same 100% gas seal at closed and even better fouling resistance. This is the heart of the block and the toughest to get right when making the blocks/screws in the thousands.

We have tried multiple surface treatments, materials over the years. What we spec in production gives the best mix of reliability, production consistency and overall cost.

That’s a very small look at the endless hours trying to make the perfect wide range adjustable gas block.

Purchase the SLR Rifleworks SENTRY Adjustable Gas Block at www.SLRRifleworks.com.

Smith Enterprise, Inc received a phone call from Silver Star recipient 1SG Michael Onstine of the 2-505thPIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment) in June of this year.  He told Smith Enterprise, Inc. that he had in his possession some battle-worn Wind Talker Sound Suppressors made by Smith Enterprise from 2004 and wondered if there was anything Smith Enterprise could do to help clean them up.  Not only did Smith Enterprise clean them up, but they replaced all of the baffles inside with the new SEI Cone Baffle system as well as replace the coupler, the end cap, and the Vortex flash hider it mounts on.  Smith also gave the suppressors a new paint job to MILSPEC standards.

SEI Windtalker Sound Suppressor 620

The only thing remaining on the original Sound Suppressor was the tube itself.  Everything else got replaced.  1SG Onstine and his men were pleased to have the four Sound Suppressor back in mint condition with the latest upgrades.

The Sound Suppressors were originally sent to the 2nd Infantry Division (2 ID) in Korea back in 2004.  At that time the 2 ID ordered a total of 110 M14 Wind Talker Sound Suppressors along with 110 of Smith’sM14 Crazy Horse upgrade kit which consisted of Smith Vortex Flash Hiders, mounts, rails, bipods, scope rings, gas lock front sites, upgraded heat treated barrels, extended bolt stop, and a long list of other parts.  Right after the upgraded Crazy Horse rifles arrived in Korea, the 2 ID deployed to Iraq.  Those suppressors stayed in Iraq transferring from unit to unit until the 2-505th PIR redeployed this past year. That is when Smith got the call from 1SG Onstine with the 2-505th.

The 2-505th PIR is part of the elite 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg, NC.  The 82nd Airborne is one of the main light infantry divisions in the US Army with an ongoing mission to rapidly deploy anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice.  The 82nd Airborne also conducts rotations overseas as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  It was during one of these rotations where 1SG Onstine received the Silver Star.  1SG Onstine received the Silver Star for valor during Operation RUSTUM as part of Operation IRAQ FREEDOM near Baghdad, Iraq in 2007.  1SG Onstine braved through multiple fire fights while severely wounded ensuring his men got out safely before he allowed himself to be evacuated.  He also acted bravely and selflessly multiple times to ensure his platoon escaped against overwhelming enemy numbers.  You can read more about 1SG Onstine here at MilitaryTimes.com.

When Ron Smith, President of Smith Enterprise was asked about this he stated, “This is a no brainer. For what 1SG Onstine did for his men and this country, the LEAST we could do was get their suppressors upgraded for them.  These Sound Suppressors they have are quite the find.  Imagine how many battles they went through over the last 9 years?  There must have easily been tens of thousands of rounds fired through them and many of fine fighting men must have taken these suppressors on and off their rifles over the years.  They were in as good a shape as when we first sent them off, just needed to have the carbon cleaned off.  We wanted 1SG and his men to have our new light weight coupler, our new baffles, our new end cap, and our new Vortex.  We want these heroes to have the best we have to offer them.”

Smith Enterprise currently sells the Wind Talker Sound Suppressor to both the military and civilian markets.  Smith Enterprise also sells the Vortex Flash Hider, the Good Iron Muzzle BrakeM14 AccessoriesAR15 Wrench, and several other weapon accessories and upgrades.
