Over the weekend my friends from LANTAC sent me some pics from a video they’re currently working on which features the much anticipated LANTAC BMD, aka the Blast Mitigation Device. The BMD slides over and locks onto the LANTAC Dragon muzzle brake to redirect the blast. If you’ve seen any of the previous LANTAC videos you know that they feature amazing high speed footage and these action shots of the BMD are absolutely amazing. You can really see how well it redirects the blast forward of the shooter while still getting some of the benefits of the Dragon brake underneath through the use of vents and holes above the Dragon’s vertical ports.

I’m a huge fan of the LANTAC Dragon muzzle brake and well…basically anything LANTAC has made so far. Really looking forward to giving the BMD once it comes out. Until then, we’ll just have to drool over these awesome pics below. Look for the full HD video to come soon.

First is a shot of the blast from a LANTAC Dragon WITHOUT the BMD in place.

These next few shots show the BMD in action on a couple of different ARs. You can easily see that it makes quite a difference in reducing the side blast.

**Update: These are in-stock at www.Revolvr.com**

Tonight I heard from an extremely credible source that LANTAC will be producing a 9mm version of their very popular Dragon muzzle brake that will be threaded in 1/2-36 and is intended for 9mm Chambered AR’s not handguns as shown below. From what I was told, the first 100 units were shipped to Rainier Arms today. We’ll be sure to update you guys as soon as we know more.

Many of you, like myself, have been planning on using some of the new LANTAC parts for builds. Namely the E-BCG and UAR are ones I’ve been interested in but they seem to sell out as fast as they show in-stock somewhere. I managed to get a little bit of a heads up from my friends at Rainier Arms who will be getting a shipment of LANTAC E-BCG’s in this week and just added the UAR Billet Upper to their inventory and website.

If you’re not familiar with these products you really should read about the LANTAC E-BCG HERE and the LANTAC UAR Upper HERE. They are pretty amazing products and I can not wait to finally get my hands on them for my next SBR build.

LANTAC USA has been absolutely awesome to watch over the last year or so. They’ve come out with some really amazing products and continue to introduced new products at lightning speed. Their latest introduction is a bit different than their Muzzle Devices, BCG, Rails, etc in that it is actually a mounting solution. We are all familiar with 1913 Picatinny, KeyMod and M-LOK. Now its time to meet LANTAC’s KAM (Keyed Accessory Mounting) because from what I can see, KAM addresses some issues I’ve personally disliked about both KeyMod and M-LOK. Only time will tell but I’m seriously hoping KAM gains a head of steam like its predecessors and becomes a huge success. Check out the video and information on KAM below.

KAM can be used for the attachment of accessories to all types of surfaces, manufactured from a variety of materials. Metal, Polymer and Composites can all be mounted onto without any damage from galling, slipping or splintering.

kam3

kam3

KAM’s unique locking system is 100% integrated into the accessory and only applies compressive force to the mounting surface. Due to its unique design a powerful force can be applied without any danger of damaging the mounting surface area.

kam3

kam3

KAM uses a low parts count for accessories and has a simple / fast to machine hole and slot pattern that also gives design and styling flexibility to the manufacturer.

kam3

KAM is Patent Pending but Free to License for manufacturing purposes, with the only requirement being the inclusion of the KAM logo on the item manufactured with its features.

Different adapter plates and locking ‘ROTO’ nuts can be used to fix the same accessories to tubular / curved surfaces so the system represents true flexibility across all types of design.

More information on adapter plates and nut designs to follow.

LANTAC USA has just released their new Product Brochure for 2015 which shows a snapshot of their current and coming soon products however I know they have many many more products that they would like to introduce this year too. I can tell you right now I have 2 Lantac Dragons that are just begging for the new BMD to be released and their new E-BCG is a must have and is already in the hands of customers with people raving about it. Other products such as the new UAR billet upper, SPADA rail, Dragon and DrAKon muzzle brakes we already know are out or on their way but I was surprised to see the addition of a 14.5″ Mid Length and 14.5″ Intermediate Length barrels which look to be really nice barrels. LANTAC has just joined the long list of companies who are offering a muzzle device shroud that redirects the blast associated with using a muzzle brake. I like that LANTAC took the design at least one step further and created openings on the top of the shroud that correspond to the top ports of the LANTAC Dragon brake which allows the brake to fight muzzle rise even while the shroud is installed. They’ve also designed a different QD attachment system as well. Probably the most notable feature is the fact that it works with the LANTAC Dragon which is widely considered one of the best brakes on the market. Also shown in these pictures is there new SPADA rail. These products will be available early 2015.

LANTAC BMD, Blast Mitigation Device. There have been many derivatives of the first blast shield designed by Simplistic Shooting Solutions and or Kineti Tech years ago. Including QD attachment systems and diffuser holes as seen in Ferfrans and the Spikes Tactical HVS designs. With Gemtech, Griffin and MMC also fielding good products. The BMD is our take on this type of device, with a few changes from our original concept that was tabled at the time we designed our Dragon brake.

LANTAC BMD

One of the most important features for us was vertical porting that would allow the Dragon brake to continue to shoot as efficiently as it does without compromise. The other was gas flow direction and turbulence. Internally the BMD features an angled shoulder that allows gas to flow smoothly into the diffuser sections of the outer cylinder and also across the many teeth at the opening. The diffuser holes are also strategically position at the sides and top of the BMD but NOT the bottom, this also assist in muzzle climb management, its the same principle as found in the A2 compensator.

LANTAC BMD Vertical Ports copy

The BMD is also retained by 2 spring loaded catches on either side, so can be ‘stripped’ forward from the brake very quickly if required.

LANTAC has been releasing a ton of new products lately and they seem to just keep getting better and better. Be sure to check out the LANTAC Facebook page as well as their website www.LANTAC-USA.com for a complete list of LANTAC products.

The new LANTAC E-BCG is now available for purchase. Don’t confuse this with any old BCG. If you want a seriously no-corners-cut BCG for that dream rifle you just built, then you need to check this thing out. They have basically tuned every part of this BCG that could improve function and reliability. It even features forward angled gas ports which are enlarged to help reduce the “gas in the face” issue most people experience when shooting suppressed. Check out the pics and details below.

LANTAC E-BCG Pre Order 1

M16 Full Auto Style for increased mass and lock time. Our new BCG is precision machined from 8620 Steel with a shot peened bolt manufactured from Carpenter 158 and Magnetically Particle Inspected. The entire carrier assembly is NiB, Electroless Nickel Boron coated with the patented, advanced UTC EXO process, unlike standard NiB coatings. This offers extreme lubricity with a friction coefficent of .04 and surface hardness of 68-72 Rockwell C.

The carriers patent pending design features unique shrouded and forward facing gas ports that have also been re sized so that gas is vented differently to a standard carrier. This results in a system that runs flatter with a smoother energy pulse. In addition the system also runs cooler and cleaner, there is also less pressurization of the upper receiver when running a suppressed barrel.

LANTAC E-BCG Pre Order 2 copy

The flared boss at the tail of the carrier enhances the BCG’s lock position within the upper and makes it more consistent, resulting in an accuracy improvement. All critical dimensions are hard turned / ground after heat treat and the bore of the carrier and gas key have been hard chrome lined for the best possible wear resistance.

LANTAC E-BCG Pre Order 3 copy

All E-BCG’s feature the LANTAC CP-R360 patent pending domed cam pin that is machined from 17-4PH Stainless Steel and hardened to H900 condition (45RC approx). The ultra smooth head reduces wear within the upper receiver. The BCG’s 11.7oz weight helps to increase lock time and smoother operation. Gas keys are properly staked at four points and only grade 8 fasteners are used in assembly.

The patent pending SMOOTHCAM system features a domed head, low friction cam pin and special upper receiver that offer ultra smooth operation. With its blended cam recess the UAR upper is machined from Billet 7075-T6 certified aluminum and milspec, Type3, Class2, Deep Black, Hardcoat Anodized.

The UAR is a precision machined upper with a special burnished bore that gives a compacted internal surface with a roughness average in micro inches of 16, as opposed to standard bored or milled uppers that are 32-63, or higher. This reduces bolt carrier friction and creates a much smoother operation.

LanTac UAR Billet Upper 1

Barrel nut threads, bore and barrel extension surfaces are all machined in one operation so that they are perfectly concentric and perpendicular to the barrel and fixing assembly. The cam pin recess has been carefully designed with a smooth surface that flows into the main reciprocation channel. This allows our specially designed radial, domed head cam pin to move with the minimum of wear against these internal surfaces.

LanTac UAR Billet Upper 3

The CP-R360 Cam Pin has no moving parts to break or lock up, so unlike roller systems it can never fail. Machined from 17-4 PH Stainless Steel and hardened to H900 (40RC) it is finished with a super smooth Melonite process. The cam pins circular head has a single flat face machined into it so that it can be inserted into any bolt carrier without having to remove the gas key.

The unique domed head allows the cam pin to operate in a completely different position to a traditional pin, with the radius of the head curving away from the receivers internal surface, rather than forming a hard or sharp edge on its upper corner that causes wear.

Used in conjunction with our UAR upper and you have a complete, ultra smooth, low friction, minimum wear system.

The guys at LANTAC USA have made a huge impression on everyone with their initial offering here in the states which was the DGN556B muzzle brake also known as the Dragon. I know from speaking with them that they have a lot of things in the works but the next on the list will be the .308/7.62 version of the Dragon. The 308 Dragon will be called the DGN762B and will work with any 7.62 or smaller chambered barrel with a 5/8×24 thread pitch. These would go perfect on one of my 300BLK uppers as well as on many of the big bore rifles such as an AR-10, FN SCAR 17S, etc.

Some T&E units were sent over to the guys at Active Shooter Defense School and here is what they had to say.

The ASDS Crew Spent the day testing the new LANTAC .308 Muzzle Brake. Short version: The Lantac .308 out preformed our expectations! We tested it against a few other brakes on a few platforms and the end results were staggering. The accuracy of the weapons improved dramatically! This was something nobody expected. The addition of a brake improving accuracy? It makes no sense to me but the fact remains on a standard SCAR Heavy, back to back test revealed 1.5″ groups with the stock brake and 3/4″ groups with the LANTAC! Don’t ask me to explain the science, I just know I witnessed it happen. The expected results were even staggering, rapid fire split times with a stock brake equipped AR-10 were averaging .52 the Lantac brought the split down to .39! We ran comparison tests between the AR-15 (.35), AR-10 (.39), and the SCAR H (.36). These spit times are AMAZING for a .308. The muzzle climb (or lack of) is spectacular for a .308. Test conditions: Elevation 1650′ 100M range 68 deg temp, 0 wind, all accuracy tests shot with multiple shooters prone position with a bi pod. Ammo was 147g factory Lake City for all tests. Same lot number. Weapons were cleaned prior to each accuracy test, shooters fired 10 rounds each/ each brake @ 100m. Split tests were averaged out of 3, 10 round runs on each weapon in the standing position.

LANTAC has said these will be coming very soon as they are just finalizing packaging and cost. To keep an eye out for the release, head on over to the LANTAC USA Facebook page and click “Get Notifications”. I’ll also try to keep you guys up to date as well. Don’t forget to follow AR15NEWS on Facebook too.

There has been a ton of talk about the new Dragon Muzzle Brake from LANTAC USA and the few people that I know of who have had the pleasure of putting some rounds down range with one have absolutely loved it. I personally have not had the opportunity to use one just yet but from all reports it is an extremely effective brake that eliminates pretty much all muzzle movement and does a pretty awesome job of reducing flash signature as well. The video below speaks volumes itself so I’ll let it do the talking. I’ve included some awesome pictures and product details for you as well. These are finally in-stock and available for purchase now at RainierArms.com.

Description:

Manufactured to the highest quality standards and featuring a patent pending design, the LANTAC DGN556B Muzzle Brake offers improved recoil management and muzzle rise over competitors products. Its unique Short Energy Pulse system reduces length of recoil so that repeating shot energy cannot overlap and knock the shooter back. Full auto fire is possible with massively reduced recoil and muzzle climb, meaning that all shots fall on target.

Ultra Fast Attenuation of muzzle blast gasses means that Flash Signature is also reduced.
