NEW!! Centurion Arms CMR Rail System

Posted on May 16th, 2013 by ar15news

After weeks and months of being teased by all of the Stickman gunporn pictures of the new Centurion Arms CMR rail system the wait is finally over.  The CMR is a modular tubular style rail that features low profile attachment options such as 1913 picatinny rail sections, bipod mount, light mount, handguard covers, etc.  As with the original Centurion Arms rail, the C4, the CMR is built to withstand the worst punishment you can throw at it.  The CMR will be available as a 12″ and 14″ model in both 5.56 and 7.62/.308 versions.  The 7.62/.308 models shipped first so they are in-stock right now over at RainierArms.com.  The first batch of 5.56 models will be shipping today so you’ll start to see them in-stock over the next few days at the dealers listed below.  Just in case you missed some of the awesome photos of the CMR I’ve added some for you drool over courtesy of the one and only Stickman.

VG6 Precision will be launching releasing their awesome looking MB CG556 muzzle brake here in the next few weeks.  The guys at VG6 Precision in California use what is called CFD or (computational fluid dynamics) to design the brake and have shot thousands of rounds of ammo to make sure it works just how they want it to.  The slogan for the new brake is “No More Recoil”.  If it can live up to that I think you’ve got a winner.  The MB CG556 will go on sale June 1st 2013 at just $85 each.  Check out their website and be ready to purchase on June 1st at VG6Precision.com

TacStrike Steel Target Systems – 2 Year Anniversary Sale

Posted on April 29th, 2013 by ar15news

Just the other day I saw Pat Rogers say, “For those unaware, Rob makes the best steel targets available.”  A recommendation like that shouldn’t be taken lightly.  If you’ve heard guys like Pat Rogers, Pat Goodale, Chris Costa, Matt Jacques, Steve Fisher, etc. talking about how awesome TacStrike’s 1/4 scale steel targets are and you still haven’t bought one, maybe this will help persuade you.  TacStrike will be coming up on just their 2 year anniversary in July but they’ve already made such a huge impression on the shooting community that they’re basically the first name anyone thinks of when looking for quality, affordable steel target systems.  To commemorate their 2 year anniversary, TacStrike has lowered the price on their 1/4 Scale Steel Target to just $200 and has a goal of selling 200 of these in the next 2 months.  Target images and details are listed below.  Take advantage of this awesome offer and help them meet their goal of 200 at TacStrike.com.

TacStrike 2 yr anniversary sale1

Chris Costa TacStrike Steel Target

The TacStrike 1/4 Scale Steel Target System were not designed for the occasional use in a backyard or weekend match.  It was designed for Firearms Instructors who are responsible for training thousands of shooters every year and need a Target Line that will stand up to the hundreds of thousands of rounds that will be sent downrange.  This means that the average shooter will have their Quarter Scale Steel Target System for a lifetime of use.

TacStrike’s 1/4 Scale Steel Target System was designed over years of training shooters at one of the nations most notarized shooting schools.  Pat Goodale and PFT Team Members have coordinated for more than a decade to design the most functional target design on the market.  Now on its 6th generation the PFT has reached the pinacle of function and durability.

The AR 500 (brinell hardness of at least 495) plate floats inside of the carrier allowing it to absorb the impact without the need to swing to the rear or rock in the carrier to absorb the bullet impact.

The Upright mounts into the base plates center 2×2 pocket and has an armor plate attached to the front of the post to keep those low rounds from damaging the post.

The base of this target system also holds 1×2 or 2×2 uprights at the right distance apart for a standard IPSC or IPDA target.  So there is no longer a need to take multiple bases to the range or redesign your target line if you are the owner of a range.  Simply pick the upright and plate out of the base and replace with uprights in the outer pockets. Tension screws are located on the outer pockets to lock in either size wooden upright you are using.  Drain holes in the pockets and stake holes in the base arms are also pre-cut for your convienance

-   Height – 54 inches
-   Weight – 52 pounds
-   Base Width – 22 inches
-   Plate Size – 18 inches x 9.5 inches
-   Ballistic Capability – Rimfire to Centerfire Rifle and Lead Shotgun Loads and Slugs (no steel shot)

How I Almost Lost Two Years Worth of Hard Work

Posted on April 22nd, 2013 by ar15news

Many of you guys are already aware of the recent events surrounding our AR15NEWS.com Facebook Fan Page that we’ve worked hard over the past 2 years to grow into a large family of AR15/firearm loving people.  Early in the morning on Friday the 19th of April I received a notification on Facebook stating that there were limits placed on my AR15NEWS.com page and it had been un-published.  To make it even worse it said that this page could not be published again.  Over the course of the next few hours our shock turned to anger as we saw 3 other pages removed as well.  The overall consensus was that this was a massive Anti-2A push by Facebook to take away our 1st and 2nd amendment rights…but was it really?

The news of our the AR15NEWS.com, 556 Tactical, GunSweeps.com and Pittsburgh Tactical Firearms pages being taken down hit the net pretty quick and spread like wildfire.  What had actually happened was a “news” agency decided to run a story about people winning guns on FB and contacted FB for comment as to whether or not this was against their policy.  Immediately after that, the pages in question were removed.  It was amazing to see this community help each other out as if members of their own family were injured.  As I mentioned, THIS is exactly what we have all come to expect from the Pro-2A community. We’re all in it together and pick each other up when we’re down.

While everyone (myself included) were busy crying foul, an amazing thing happened.  An employee at Facebook with some pull who happens to be a fellow lover of shooting sports and the industry in general contacted me and started working on the behalf of all four pages to help us get our pages back.  This was the last thing I expected.  Everyone talked about how FB is anti gun, anti free speech, etc.  How was this happening?  With about 24 hours I received an email from Facebook explaining to me exactly why my page was taken down and what I needed to do to get it back.  Unfortunately the other pages did not get as hopeful of an email as I did.

My violations were two fold regarding Facebook’s TOS (Terms of Service).  1. I was not following Facebook’s guidelines when it came to running giveaways on my page.  Basically, you can’t force people to use the “Like” button, etc to participate.  2. You aren’t allowed to promote the use/sale of a weapon/firearm/explosive.  Our recent giveaway of a complete rifle ran afoul of that rule.  I was told that if I removed the offending content and didn’t violate the TOS in the future that I would have no problems and the page would be reinstated.  I decided to play it safe and just remove pretty much everything.  Sure enough, they stuck to their word and as soon as it was gone I received an email from another very helpful person at Facebook that my page was back up.

So obviously this was not the most enjoyable time in my life and I wished it had never happened but I do feel like it was a very good learning experience.  I love to learn from my experiences, own up for my own actions and move on.  In life you can choose to see the positive side of things and that’s what I’m focused on.  What I learned was this.  There wasn’t some Anti-2A conspiracy on the part of Facebook.  I understand they they may not be Pro-2A either but if they were completely Anti-2A they wouldn’t have helped me at all.  Even though this was a major pain for me and I lost a lot of work, the rational part of me knows the truth.  The pages were taken down by people who were just following protocol.  They have a set of rules in place that are there to protect them as a company.  Do I think they are being a bit over cautious with their rules?  Yes!  Do I think the rules are bit too vague?  Yes!  The cool part is that this is something that you will see changed in Facebook’s TOS as a direct result of Friday’s debacle.  Very soon we should see a much more defined set of rules regarding Firearms and their acceptable place on Facebook.  For the most part my page will function exactly as it did before with one exception.  I probably will stay away from Giveaways for a while until I can figure out exactly how to do it under Facebook’s TOS and that for sure means no complete rifle giveaways anymore.

I am very thankful that anyone at FB was willing to help me work through this.  There is still a lot of work currently being done behind the scenes to get the other pages reinstated.  Some of them may not even know that this is happening.  My hope is that we see all 4 pages be reinstated but only time will tell.  We’ll continue to keep you guys informed over the next week or so.  Just FYI, I am writing this to you out of my own accord.  No one at Facebook knows or cares that I’m writing it.

GLAD TO HAVE YOU BACK!!

Ben
