Armaspec introduced a few new products this year at SHOT Show but the one I know many people are super excited about is the new Stealth Recoil Spring. The Stealth Recoil Spring is a drop-in replacement for your AR15 buffer and buffer spring that eliminates the noise from the spring rubbing on the inside of the buffer tube and helps the rifle function quieter and smoother. They also incorporated a rubber o-ring on the face of the Stealth Recoil Spring that removes any metal on metal contact.

The Stealth Recoil Spring is a self-contained multi-stage drop-in replacement for your standard buffer and spring. Designed to reduced felt recoil as well as keep the buffer spring from rubbing against the inner wall of the buffer tube. The buffer mass is designed to stay under constant tension against the bolt carrier and the O-ring on the head of the buffer mass prevents metal on metal contact. Pat. Pend.

The Stealth Recoil Spring comes in 5 variations.
– SRS-Carbine at about 3.3oz equivalent
– SRS-H at around 3.8oz equivalent
– SRS-H2 at around 4.7oz equivalent
– SRS-9 at around 5.3oz equivalent
– SRS-H3 at around 5.6oz equivalent

Another awesome thing about the new Stealth Recoil Spring is the price. Armaspec has kept the price to a very affordable $79. At that price, if they work as advertised, I’ll be using these in many builds going forward. These are showing out of stock now but sounds like they should be available for purchase very soon at www.Armaspec.com.

I’ve been known to tinker and tweak my guns until I get them running perfect. One of the AR’s I’ve done this the most on is my Quarter Circle 10 9mm. The blowback operation of these 9mm guns creates a ton of energy and gets the BCG moving at a very high rate creating a lot more felt recoil than you would ever guess and can also lead to beating up and breaking parts like bolt catches, etc. I’ve mostly been swapping around different springs and buffers going heavier and heavier.

QuarterCircle10 9mm Buffer Setup

KAK Industry just rolled out a brand new 9mm Configurable Buffer Kit that lets you swap out weights inside the buffer to adjust the overall weight of the buffer in stages up to 10 ounces.

KAK Industry 9mm Configurable Buffer Kit

This new KAK 9mm Configurable Buffer Kit would have really come in handy while I was trying to figure out the perfect buffer weight to get my build running like a sewing machine. It is also perfect for making adjustments for Suppressed, UnSuppressed, Subsonic Rounds, Full Auto, etc. If you’re tweaking your AR9, you definitely need to check out this new 9mm Configurable Buffer Kit from KAK Industry.

SI (Strike Industries) just released another version of their SI Ultimate Dust Cover with a new Flag design. The previous version had more of a looping / flowing flag design. The new design features more straight lines that go better with the lines of an AR15. The coolest part about the SI UDCs is that they can be installed in seconds without needing to remove the handguard. They have a spring loaded pin that can be manually retracted for easy installation.

The new Flag model of the SI Ultimate Dust Cover is finally in stock and shipping now in black and FDE!

ETS Group Glock mags have been a huge hit ever since their introduction last year. Part of the reason for their popularity is that they cost quite a bit less than an OEM Glock mag and the transparent body looks awesome too. I bought some of the 31rd 9mm Glock mags from ETS a while back to use in my QuarterCircle10 AR9 and they have been awesome. They function flawlessly and are the only mags I have that will reliably lock the bolt back on an empty mag. They currently offer eight different 9mm Glock magazines and now they have added six new .40 Cal Glock magazines. Those new mags are 9rd, 13rd, 16rd, Competition Legal 19rd, Competition Legal 24rd and a 31rd.

For the seasoned shooter, making adjustments on their go to optic may seem like second nature. For a novice or new shooter, making those same adjustments can take some time to figure out. Now throw in different optics with different click values and even an experienced shooter can get thrown off. ZeroBravo has just introduced the new S.M.A.R.T. Card which is designed as a tool to help you know right away what each click of virtually any optic represents from 7 meters all the way out to 400 meters.

The Simple Marksman Adjustment Reference Table, or S.M.A.R.T. Card, was developed to provide a simple answer to the question we have all had on the range. “How many clicks do I need to move up an inch at this distance?”

While the concept is simple, amassing the data into a useful format was key. For example – The DeltaPoint Pro or Trijicon RMR moves 1” per click at 100 yards. But how does that translate on your pistol at 7 yards? The answer to that question is 1 click moves 4/57” at 7 yards. Great! That is useless information to someone trying to figure out how many clicks to move their adjustment. So it is simplified to 1/14 – so it would take 14 clicks to move it 1 inch at 7 yards.

All the data was calculated for both yards and meters and the average was used. This number was then simplified to fractions of 1/* in order to give the shooter or coach a useful reference for how far to move that particular optic at the referenced distance. An example of this is that the M4 rear sight 3/4” per click at 100 meters. At 25 meters, it moves 6/35”. To simplify this, we change this to 7/35” – or simply 1/5”. So now you know you need to go 5 clicks at 25 meters to move 1”. While we freely acknowledge that the mathematical conversions are not exact, we feel that the difference of 1/35” is negligible and the referenced measurement is much more useful as the simple fraction.

zero-bravo-smart-card-1

In addition to the data referenced on our wheel from 7m to 400 meters, the card also contains 2 rulers for measuring your groups as well as two trajectory illustrations for instructors to better explain this concept to their students.

zero-bravo-smart-card-1

The card is made from water proof die cut PVC so additional protection is not required for use on the range, in your field bag, or anywhere else. Measuring 5” wide and 4” tall, the card will easily fit in your uniform pocket, back pocket or range bag.

The S.M.A.R.T. Card is manufactured from die cut PVC and is 100% Made in the USA.

Height:   4 in (10.16 cm)

Width:   5 in (12.7 cm)

Depth:   0.06 in (0.15 cm)

Weight:   0.5 oz (14.17 g)

I personally love to take someone who has never shot before and teach them firearms safety, get them out shooting, learning how to make scope adjustments, etc. The last thing I want to do with that new shooter is overwhelm them with a figuring out click values at different distances.

Using a tool like this in conjunction with working through the actual math reinforces that you’re doing the correct mental math. Practice Makes Perfect! While not everyone will feel the need for this product I definitely see it coming in very handy when helping new shooters learn how to make adjustments, working with a new optic, etc. Being that its made of a durable PVC material its an easy item to just throw in your range bag and take it with you anytime you shoot.

The new ZeroBravo S.M.A.R.T. Card is priced at just $14.95 available right now at www.ZeroBravo.com.

I personally run exclusively CMC and Geissele/ALG triggers in my guns. Not because I have to but because they are awesome and I choose to use them. However, this new “Saber” from James Madison Tactical is intriguing purely because of the price point. The Saber is a single stage drop-in trigger with a 3.5-4.0 pound pull weight. Rainier Arms has secured the first run of these triggers at an introductory price of $89.95. I personally have not used one of these triggers but if I wanted to upgrade my stock trigger and couldn’t afford a CMC or Geissele this is something I would consider.

This new product from Indian Creek Design is a two piece shield for virtually any muzzle device on the market. It uses a threaded collar that goes on before the muzzle device that the main body of the BFD (Blast Forwarding Device) screws onto.  This allows it to mount without attaching directly to any specific muzzle device and can be threaded on or off as needed. Check out the press release and pictures below. These are on sale now at www.indiancreekdesigninc.com

**Press Release**

Nampa, Idaho, September 26, 2016 – No longer will your shooting partners, entry team members, or your wife and kids shrink back from your invitation to go shoot your muzzle brake equipped rifle. The creative minds at Indian Creek Design, Inc (ICD) have solved one of shooting’s annoying dilemmas, eliminating the side and back blast from an effective muzzle brake, with an ingenious device that will have everyone at ranges and along firing lines across this great nation enjoying their chosen pastime more and getting better training in.

Muzzle brakes work by providing ports for the rapidly moving and expanding gasses that propel a bullet to hit against as they exit the end of a firearm barrel, re-directing those gasses to the sides and often back at the shooter to control recoil and offer quicker follow up shots and to control the muzzle so the impact of your previously fired shots can be seen via your optics to assess accuracy. They are also the bane of Range Officers and other people on the firing line, as well as tactical entry team members, etc, due to the back blast associated with their use.

“Muzzle brakes have been around for generations and they are invaluable, especially in target and tactical situations,” says Gary Adams, a spokesperson for ICD, “but people get sick of the blast associated with using a muzzle brake. This has led to a rise in sales of flash cans and linear compensators which only channel gasses forward but do nothing for muzzle rise and recoil. There are a few companies that make a system that couples a specific flash can with a specific muzzle brake but these are relatively expensive and up until now there has been no option for a consumer or law enforcement agency to use whichever muzzle brake they prefer and also run a blast forwarding device with that brake to defeat the blast and noise.

We at ICD have undertaken the task of engineering and perfecting a simple and elegant blast forwarding device, the ICD BFD, that will fit on many rifles and that works in conjunction with virtually any muzzle brake the shooter wants to use. The BFD, which adds only 2.6 ounces to the rifle, is stunningly simple in design, but so very effective that it will literally change the way shooters look at muzzle brakes and shooting in general. It is absolutely amazing how effective it is.”

icd-bfd-1

An added benefit in the BFD re-directing the muzzle blast is the re-direction of the ear drum shattering noise as well. Independent testing has proven that a muzzle brake causes up to a 10x increase in discharge sound level that hits the shooter and those in the surrounding area. The BFD corrals that damaging sound wave and sends it downrange. The perceived sound near the shooter is reduced dramatically. Despite this ability, the BFD is not an NFA controlled item, it is not a suppressor, and no special permissions are required to own or use it.

icd-bfd-1

The ICD BFD is available for any rifle with 1/2″ threaded muzzle devices (AR variants, etc) and for 5/8″ threaded devices such as on AR-10’s, etc. The BFD was extensively tested on various caliber rifles, up to and including a 7mm Remington Magnum bolt action rifle, with excellent results. Finished in a matte black MilSpec Type III hardcoat, Mr. Adams feels that this will quickly become a must have for the casual or avid shooter who wants muzzle control and doesn’t want to feel or subject others to the punishing back blast, and also for tactical operations and Law Enforcement use where the brake blast can be detrimental to operational success and the safety of the personnel involved. Every Range Officer in the world will want these on every rifle, they are that effective.

Instead of spending a large amount of money for a proprietary device that handcuffs equipment choices, departments, agencies, and civilian shooters can now add a moderately priced (MSRP $79.95) piece of American made kit to their existing platform and get a lot more, or rather a lot less, “BANG for their buck”!
