FIRST LOOK – Quarter Circle 10 Pistol Caliber MUR Upper

Posted on November 6th, 2015 by ar15news

Quarter Circle 10 has been working hard to bring multiple Pistol Caliber upper options to market that will match their billet Pistol Caliber lowers. First up is their collaboration with VLTOR to make a “Top Charging” Pistol Caliber MUR upper. Its a slick side upper with a smaller pistol caliber opening. “Top Charging” meaning it utilizes the standard AR-15 Charging Handle. These open for pre-order. Their website says 1-4 weeks but I was told by QC10 they they should ship by the end of next week. Price will be $179.95. If you’re looking for a very nice traditional pistol caliber upper for your QC10 or other builds, check out

NEW!! BCM KMR-Alpha Rail

Posted on October 20th, 2015 by ar15news

Bravo Company USA has just announced their new BCM KMR-Alpha rail is now shipping. Although the appearance is unchanged, the new KMR-Alpha is made from an Aircraft Grade Aluminum alloy vs the Magnesium alloy the current KMR is made of. Take a minute to read about the new KMR-Alpha rail and check out the pictures below.

BCM KMR-Alpha Rail 1

Shipping Now !

The definitive modular combat rail is now also available in an Aircraft Grade Aluminum alloy. With seven mounting surfaces, the KMR-Alpha is a modular handguard that uses the KeyMod system to attach accessories such as lights, lasers, vertical grips, handstops and more.

BCM KMR-Alpha Rail 1

Utilizing the same patented (US 8904691) free float barrel nut lock up, the KMR-Alpha uses the identical mounting hardware as the original KMR. This new addition to the KMR family only weighs 6 ounces plus 2.2 ounces for barrel nut and hardware (Note: KMR-A10).

Each KMR-Alpha includes a BCM® KeyMod QD Sling Mount and is available in 15″, 13″ and 10″ as well as 9″, 8″ and 7″ sizes.

KeyMod is the industry standard for a repeat zero modular system. KeyMod mates the handguard and the accessory with a chamfered interface that self-aligns for consistent, repeatable mounting. This self-aligning interface is the same basis for the Picatinny 1913 rail system proven in combat by the US Military since 9/11.

BCM KMR-Alpha Rail 2

The KMR uses a patented lock up system where self-locking cross bolts apply force at the 12:00 position of the handguard equally distributing force around the surface area of the rail. This also insures continuous top center alignment of the rail and mitigates forwards/backwards movement of the handguard when the weapon system is fired.

LUTH-AR Introduces Two New AR-15/AR-10 Carbine Stocks

Posted on October 8th, 2015 by ar15news

After using the LUTH-AR MBA-1 on one of my favorite precision AR-15s and absolutely loving it, I was really excited to hear they were introducing two new models of the MBA (Modular Buttstock Assembly). The original MBA-1 and MBA-2 stocks mounted to an A1/A2 buffer tube. The new MBA-3 and MBA-4 are Carbine stocks meaning that they will mount directly to your standard AR-15 buffer tube for collapsible stocks.

The MBA-3 Carbine Stock is fully decked out with an adjustable height cheek rest, 3-axis adjustable buttplate, 1913 picatinny rail section on the bottom of the stock and more.

The MBA-4 Carbine Stock is more of a stripped down version of the MBA-3 letting you add the accessories you want. It does use the same frame as the MBA-3 including the 1913 rail section on the bottom.

– Fits .223 & .308 AR platform

– Easy to replace & quick to install
– Strong fiberglass-filled nylon
– Features a picatinny rail
– Adjusts to 15.75″ length-of-pull
– New 3-axis adjustable buttplate
– Revolutionary anti-rattle set screw
– Available in black, FDE & pink.
– MBA-3 weighs 18 oz.
– MBA-4 weighs 11 oz.

Both of these stocks look really great. Whether you are looking for a more basic setup or the fully loaded, these are sure to fill the need. All LUTH-AR MBA stocks are available for purchase now at

Testing The KAK Industry .308 Nitride BCG with Dual Ejectors

Posted on September 14th, 2015 by ar15news

The other day I was given the opportunity to run some rounds through the new KAK Industry .308 Nitride BCG with Dual Ejectors. Dual Ejectors are not brand new but I have never personally used a BCG in any caliber with this setup and wanted to figure out what it could do different than my standard BCGs. So here is how I tested out the new KAK Industry Dual Ejector .308 BCG.

KAK 308 Dual Ejector BCG 7

KAK 308 Dual Ejector BCG 6

I have a bunch of linked (for Belt Fed) .308 SWAT SSA ammo that I bought a while back to shoot. This stuff ended up being pretty much junk. Basically I would remove it from the links, load it up in my Magpul LR-20 mags and try to run it through both of my .308 ARs. No matter what I did, every single shot would result in a failure to eject. Not sure if it was just too dirty ( which it was quite dirty) or what but neither of my .308s could run it.

KAK 308 Dual Ejector BCG 6

So yesterday I unlinked a bunch of the .308 SWAT SSA and set it aside. I then grabbed some 149gr Federal XM80CL which always runs perfect and loaded up some mags.

KAK 308 Dual Ejector BCG 6

I had already tuned this guns adjustable gas block but I wanted a fresh slate, so to start I shut my SLR Rifleworks adjustable gas block OFF. Started shooting the Federal and gradually opened it up until it was just enough to eject the Federal ammo and hold the bolt open on the last round. I had it right where it should be and not over gassed so it would be a great test when we switched to the crap .308 SWAT SSA ammo.

Grabbed two mags of the .308 SWAT SSA ammo which has NEVER run right in any of my .308s. Left the adjustable gas block right where it was using my standard BCG. Sure enough, first 5 shots were failure to eject. I figured I knew where this was going so it was time to swap out the BCG and use the KAK Industry Dual Ejector BCG. proceeded to fire off 35 straight rounds of the .308 SWAT SSA without a single malfunction. No changes were made except for the BCG swap. The dual ejector setup is the only thing that could have made a huge difference from what I can tell.

KAK 308 Dual Ejector BCG 6

When I set out to shoot this rifle yesterday, I wasn’t sure exactly what the outcome would be. There was a chance that nothing would change but after successfully shooting  ammo that I was previously unable to due to Failure To Extract, I am sold!

This BCG features a fully machined Extractor and Gas Key. No MIM parts on this thing at all. The Bolt is 9310 and the carrier is 8620 with a Black Nitride (Melonite, QPQ, etc. All the same thing.) finish inside and out for superior corrosion resistance and lubricity. The Carrier itself has the facetted cuts, forward assist serrations and a correct auto sear trip location (for you lucky guys with an SOT). The Bolt features the dual Ejector setup, is MP tested and marked and the fully machined extractor also has a rubber o-ring helper to ensure reliable extraction.

At just $180, I don’t know you will find a better deal anywhere. You can head on over to and get on their email notification list so you can snag one of these as soon as they become available.

Alamo Four Star Announces the Cowl Induction Break (CIB)

Posted on June 11th, 2015 by ar15news

June 9th, 2015 – Lubbock Texas – Lubbock Texas – Alamo Four Star is pleased to announce the release of the Cowl Induction Brake (CIB). The CIB CNC cross milled port design reduces recoil by over 50% while minimizing the sound directed back at the shooter.

Alamo Four Star CIB brake 1

The CIB was developed as better way to mitigate the recoil of large caliber rifles. Founder Mark Deros realized a need to revisit the industry standard muzzle brake design when he was shooting his .338 Lapua and experiencing substantial recoil with a standard factory brake. This led Mark to find the most effective way to redirect the escaping gas pressure and put that energy to work in order to more effectively reduce recoil and manage muzzle rise. This reduction was made possible by redesigning the internal and external geometry of the traditional brake to increase the efficiency of the flow of gasses.

Alamo Four Star CIB brake 2

“I realized after shooting my .338 Lapua for a while I realized that there had to be a better solution than receiving an ‘ass whipping’ with the factory muzzle brake.” said Mark Deros CEO of Alamo Four Star. “With 18,000 lbs of pressure being released from that muzzle, that’s a lot of energy available to be exploited. The CIB uses that energy to the shooters advantage creating a more enjoyable shooting experience and faster follow up shots.”

The CIB is available in 223/5.56, 6mm, 6.5mm, .30cal, and .338 Lapua in both black and stainless steel. MSRP on the CIB is $169

Recently I started a new build. It was centered around a few key components, the Rainier Arms Mod3 billet receiver set, Rainier Arms 16″ .223 Wylde barrel made from a Rock Creek Blank, the LANTAC USA E-BCG and the new Fortis Manufacturing 14″ REV II MLOK rail. I just recently finished this build and will begin the process of shooting and reviewing it. Until then I wanted to give you an initial impression of the new REV II MLOK rail.

I have used many Fortis Manufacturing REV rails over the past few years and really like them a lot. Lately Fortis has come out with a few new rails including the new REV II rails which look great. As you would assume they are a modified version of the original REV rail that deletes the bottom picatinny rail section and forward side rail sections for a super sleek design, lighter weight and more flexibility in mounting your KeyMod or MLOK accessories.

Fortis REV II MLOK 1

The REV II rails mount directly to a Mil Spec AR-15 barrel nut with a rock solid clamp just like the original REV rail. This type of mount is great for a few reasons. One, it creates an insanely solid union between the upper and rail. It also makes it easier for users to upgrade from the standard plastic “Glacier Guard” or other hand guards that use a Delta Ring as they will not need any armorers tools to remove the old barrel nut and install a proprietary barrel nut. Just cut the Delta Ring off, remove the spring, install your low profile gas block and your REV II rail will be on in minutes. Installation of accessories can be done while the rail is installed but can be done much easier by quickly removing the rail instead of installing them while on the rifle.

Fortis REV II MLOK 1

Fortis REV II MLOK 1

Fortis REV II MLOK 1

Fit and finish on the Fortis Manufacturing rails is second to none with a very nice dark black Type III Hard Coat Anodizing, smooth edges and aggressive lines. Not to mention they just look stinking sexy! As you can see in the picture below I also used the Fortis Manufacturing Low Profile Gas Block which looks great with its similar lines.

Fortis REV II MLOK 1

Fortis REV II MLOK 1

Overall I am very impressed with the Fortis Manufacturing REV II rail and would put them very high on the “Recommended List”. They offer these in both KeyMod and MLOK versions all the way from 7″ long to 14″ long.  So far there really isn’t anything I would say I don’t like about the rail. One note I would make is that anti-rotation tabs are a great feature but as you may already know, not all  billet uppers will accommodate them unless they manufacture of that upper has designed it to work with a rial with anti-rotation tabs. This is not an issue with the rail but more of an issue with manufacturers of billet uppers. The Fortis Billet Upper and Rainier Arms Billet Upper work great with them and many others will too. Check out the entire build below. Once I’ve had some time behind the trigger on this build I will update with more reviews on the different components.

Rebel Arms Enhanced Nitride M16 Bolt Carrier Group Promo

Posted on May 18th, 2015 by ar15news

One of our website sponsors, Rebel Arms, has a promotion going on right now for their new Enhanced Nitride M16 BCG. This style BCG is very popular right now and is being produced for a number of different companies and for good reason…they are great BCG’s. A Nitride finish on a BCG is perfect because it is very slick but also has great anti-corrosion properties that protect it from even the most corrosive AR ammo. As you can see the carrier itself also features enhanced cuts as well.

Get Some!! Bobro LowRider BUIS Are In-Stock and Ready to Ship

Posted on April 20th, 2015 by ar15news

**EDIT:  These are in-stock right now so get ’em while they’re hot!** 4/20/15 2:00PM EST

I received word over the weekend that the new LowRider BUIS from Bobro Engineering are finally nearing their initial release and should be available for purchase VERY soon…as in THIS week. If you haven’t seen or heard of the LowRider BUIS from Bobro, you’ve got to check these out.

Bobro Engineering Lowrider Sights 2

The Bobro Engineering LowRider sights are designed from the start to be an extremely low profile set of BUIS for a specific purpose. Many Short Barreled Rifle owners have run into an issue with figuring out how to mount a set of BUIS on the upper and still fit their needed Lights, Lasers and Optics. The idea was to make it so that the Rear Sight was so low profile that there was almost no possible way it could interfere with optics and the Front Sight could easily be mounted under the front arm of the optic mount. This keeps them out of the way, but can still be used in the even the primary optic has a failure.

Bobro Engineering Lowrider Sights 2

The Bobro LowRider sights are so low profile in the stowed position that you almost don’t notice they are even there unless you are looking for them.

Bobro Engineering Lowrider Sights 2

Even though these sights were designed to fill a specific need, they can still be used on a full size rifle in traditional BUIS positions as shown below. The LowRider sights still maintain all of the adjustability of a standard set of BUIS such as Windage and Elevation and lock in place when flipped up. Just press the button on the side to release them and they lay flat.

Bobro Engineering Lowrider Sights 2

Rainier Arms has secured the first 50 available sets and has 40 sets available on at $200 and they will sell 10 sets on at $190. These are in-stock right now so get ’em while they’re hot!

NEW!! Tactical Walls – 1410M Wall Clock Discreet Storage

Posted on April 8th, 2015 by ar15news

We’ve shown you many products from Tactical Walls in the past. Tactical Walls started out producing storage compartments disguised as mirrors in a variety of sizes from smaller compartments for handguns and knives to ones large enough for rifles, shotguns, ammo, etc. These have been very popular but some people have asked for options that did not require you to cut into the wall and mount the storage insert between the wall studs. After many hours of development, Tactical Walls introduced their first outside the wall option which was their awesome Tactical Shelves. Never the company to sit back and relax, they quickly started designing their second outside the wall product, the Tactical Wall Clock.

Tactical Walls Tactical Wall Clock 1

The technical name for this product is the 1410M Tactical Wall Clock. What that means is you get a 14″ wide by 10″ tall storage compartment with a “M”agnetic mount technology that is hidden inside of a wall clock. The Wall Clock is fully functional and mounts just as you would any other large wall clock.

Tactical Walls Tactical Wall Clock 2

The Tactical Wall Clock is designed to give you immediate access to whatever you decide to keep inside of it without it being in plain sight. In the event you need your gun, knife, keys, stone…whatever, you just press on the 12 o’clock portion of the clock face and it tilts out allowing you to reach inside and remove your items. The face of the clock can also be completely and quickly removed making it easy to put the items back inside.

Tactical Walls Tactical Wall Clock 2

It is important to point out that the Tactical Wall Clock is not designed to be used as a Safe or to think that kids can not get into it if not placed out of their reach. Most of Tactical Walls products have locks on them but the Tactical Wall Clock does not. I wouldn’t let that deter you though. Because it is a wall clock it is perfectly normal to have it placed above eye level which, depending on furniture, should keep it out of the reach of young ones. Check out the video demonstration below.

Tactical Walls Tactical Wall Clock 4

I think a wall clock is an awesome way to discreetly store items, up out of reach of children but still within arms reach if you need something in a hurry. You never know when you may encounter a threat in your own home or business and realize your much further away from your weapon than you should be OR maybe during a scuffle with an intruder you are disarmed and need to find an alternate weapon. Its also a great option for renters who don’t want to cut into the walls of their apartment  etc. Whatever the reason may be, Tactical Walls products are a great answer for those situations.
