NEW!! Badrock Tactical 12″ & 15″ Free Float KeyMod Rail

Posted on September 8th, 2014 by ar15news

Badrock Tactical has just introduced their new 12″ and 15″ Free Float KeyMod rails. I’ve recently became aware of and started working with Badrock Tactical and they really seem to build some sweet rifles. Now add these awesome rails to the lineup and they’ve really got you covered. These new rails have KeyMod slots at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock spots as well as at the 45 degree angles as well, plus there are short picatinny rail sections up front on the sides of the rail. As mentioned, they are being offered in 12″ and 15″ length models. Both models will be available in Black, Gray, Camo, Pink Type III Hard Coat Anodize as well as a Raw unfinished version for you DIY’ers. These rails are light on weight but are also light on your wallet coming in at just $165 for the 12″ and just $175 for the 15″. Check out the pics and details below.

We are pleased to introduce the Badrock Tactical AR 15 Platform Free Float Hand Guard. As with all of our products, they are manufactured under some of the tightest quality and tolerance metrics in the industry using aircraft grade 6061 T6 billet aluminum for the hand guard and 7075 T6 for the barrel nut. These units feature Keymod slots at the standard 3, 6 and 9 O’Clock positions as well as Keymod on the 45 degree angle surfaces for maximum functionality and flexibility for whatever purpose your rifle will serve. In addition to the Keymod slots (which all double as standard Quick Detach QD) you will find traditional QD holes mounted at 3 and 9 O’Clock at the base of the hand guard and 1913 Picatinny Mil-Spec Rails machined in at 3 and 9 O’Clock at the muzzle end of the hand guard. Our unique design allows for contoured fit for the operator’s hand that is easy to grip and comfortable to shoot. These will be offered in Type III Hard Anodize in Black, Grey, Camo, Pink and Clear. We will initially offer these in 12” and 15”, with a 9” version on the horizon.

Purchase the new 12″ and 15″ Badrock Tactical KeyMod rail at www.BadrockTactical.com.

Rainier Arms Forged A-DAC Lowers Now Available for Purchase

Posted on September 8th, 2014 by ar15news

Rainier Arms has officially released their new A-DAC Forged Lowers which means I will be buying one very soon. The A-DAC function is a right-hand bolt catch (integrated into the magazine release button). The A-DAC allows you to hold the magazine release button in (dropping the mag if one is inserted), pull the charging handle to the rear and lock the bolt back all at the same time. There are only a couple other lowers that offer this feature and the Rainier Arms lower is the newest and most affordable of them all.

As I’ve mentioned in the past, I could care less about an ambi Bolt RELEASE. I want an ambi Bolt HOLD to help with increasing the speed of clearing malfunctions, etc. There really isn’t any other reason for you to manually hold the bolt open unless you’re clearing a malfunction or inspecting the weapon which in both cases you will want to remove the magazine. The A-DAC system is the perfect solution. Watch the following video that shows how the A-DAC system works.

The original Forged lower will still be available, if you don’t want or need this feature. The Mountain logo has also been added to the left side of the receiver.

Rainier Arms Forged A-DAC Lower 1Rainier Arms Forged A-DAC Lower 1

Benefits:
- Removes six steps from the Manual of Arms when clearing a double feed malfunction.
– The device adds the ability to use the right hand to lock the bolt to the rear while still leaving you the option of using the standard left hand method.
– Greatly reduces the amount of time needed to clear a malfunction.
– Unlike all other devices there is no need to learn to find a new location for your trigger finger as one experienced with the weapon already instinctively makes contact with the magazine release button first to clear any remedial action malfunction.

Trouble free simple design:
- Can be field stripped with no tools.
– Only one additional part is required and is completely internal to the receiver.
– There are no screws to come loose.
– There is no weight added to the bolt catch that could cause it not to lock open on the last round like other devices which bolt on.
– Nothing to snag on clothes or other gear.

Safety:
- Virtually eliminates the possibility of the user’s finger unintentionally entering the trigger guard while locking the bolt to the rear.
– When used, makes it impossible to inadvertently lock back the bolt with a loaded magazine left in the receiver. This prevents the possibility of chambering a round in the event the rifle is bumped causing the bolt to drop.
– Nothing to accidentally trip the bolt release when reloading or clearing a malfunction as it is only a bolt catch.
– Allows you to keep a firm grip of fire control – making it much easier to keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction when locking the bolt to the rear.
– Nothing obstructing any portion of the trigger guard – preventing any issue with snagging a gloved hand.

The all new Rainier Arms Forged A-DAC lower is available for purchase now at www.RainierArms.com.

NEW!! Umbrella Corporation Gen2 Premium Bolt Carrier Group

Posted on September 3rd, 2014 by ar15news

Umbrella Corporation Weapons Research Group recently released their new Premium Bolt Carrier Group and man this thing is sweet. As I’ve explained this BCG to many people already, its basically a “No Corners Cut” BCG. Every single part of the BCG production was scrutinized to make sure this BCG is as high quality as it gets. I was able to get my hands on one and wanted to take some pictures of it and share my initial review of the UCWRG Gen 2 BCG with you guys. That way you could make an educated decision as to whether this was the right BCG for you.

Umbrella Corp WRG Premium BCG 2

Not only does it feature the awesome Umbrella logo but the fit and finish is perfect. At first glance you wouldn’t think the coating is Phosphate because its much smoother than what is required to meet Mil Spec. They also went above and beyond using the best materials possible such as the 4340 Extractor (everyone else uses 4140; both are allowed by the M4 data package but since 4140 is less costly, it always gets the nod), using Carpenter Technology No. 158 gun quality aerospace steel alloy, etc. They also proof fire each BCG, clean and inspect to make sure every one is perfect before it goes out the door.

Umbrella Corp WRG Premium BCG 1

Umbrella Corp WRG Premium BCG 3

Aside from the quality of the BCG, there is another aspect of it…which is that it looks really awesome. Whether you have UCWRG receivers for your rifle or not, seeing the Umbrella logo through the ejection port just looks cool. Of course if you do happen to be lucky enough to have some UCWRG receivers then this BCG will really tie everything together.

Umbrella Corp WRG Premium BCG 4

Umbrella Corp WRG Premium BCG 5

Umbrella Corp WRG Premium BCG 6

Overall, I think the UCWRG Premium Bolt Carrier Group is the perfect upgrade for someone who wants only the best in their rifle. I’m really excited to put some rounds down range with this BCG. Once I’ve had some time to get a good round count with the rifle shown below, I will come back and do another writeup to let you know about my experience with it. At this point I would definitely recommend the UCWRG BCG to anyone. Having such a detailed list of components/features (listed below) makes it easy to see why this BCG would be a no-brainer. Not to mention at the introductory price of just $165 it is not much more than the “suspect quality” BCG’s I see floating around everywhere. If you want one for yourself, they are in-stock now at www.UCWRG.com.

Additional Details from the UCWRG website

Umbrella Corporation AR-15 Bolt Carrier Groups are our take on a premium, no snake oil, combat ready BCG. Each and every bolt is proof fired, ultrasonically cleaned, tested via magnetic particle inspection (MPI), and once certified, parkerized for corrosion protection and lube retention. In keeping with a superior product, we don’t utilize a Crane O-Ring as a crutch to increase extractor tension. Instead, our bolts are built with a mil-spec black insert coupled with a Tactical Springs 5-coil high load extractor spring that’s compatible with all DI gas system lengths. It’s rated for 150K+ cycles to outlast your rifle barrel many times over. We have improved on the finish requirement of the TDP and have chosen the best materials of those allowed per spec, not the lowest cost like nearly all of our competitors. This second gen product is manufactured to the highest standards with an unconditional guarantee against material defect and manufacturing failure. We challenge you to compare our Bolt Carrier Group specs against the competition. Beyond using Carpenter’s 158 alloy for the bolt, ask what alloy they use for their extractors, Extractor pins, ejectors, and whether their cam pins have a solid film lube per TDP. You will likely find they don’t advertise any of these specifications.  And don’t fall for the 9310 alloy bolt substitute; it is a less expensive, inferior alloy for this application. Bought into the hype and don’t believe us? Ask Carpenter Tech; they manufacture both materials and will without hesitation tell you 158 is the proper, superior alloy. The draw for 9310 is that it’s a decent material when heat treated properly though since there’s no spec, how do you know what “proper” might be for this application? It’s less costly, and you don’t have to buy mill run quantities for manufacturing. It’s the little things that make the real difference and we cut no corners with our Bolt Carrier Groups. as before, this initial first release is offered with a discount below our suggested retail pricing. Assembly/function check by a qualified Armorer is required.

Battle Arms Development Forged Lowers In-Stock!!

Posted on August 8th, 2014 by ar15news

A few days ago we showed you guys a sneak peek of the new Battle Arms Development forged lowers we’ve all been anxiously waiting for. We all know Battle Arms Development doesn’t cut any corners with their products and knew if they made a lower they would do some awesome stuff with it but didn’t know to what extent until today. B.A.D. has basically controlled all aspects of the manufacturing of these lowers to create what is sure to be one of the highest quality lowers on the market. They know the price is much higher than you probably expected to pay for a forged lower but they weren’t going for the most affordable lower. They wanted to offer the best receiver you can get. Because of the additional time and effort it takes to produce these lowers they are made in smaller batches. Check out the details and pictures below, then be ready to snag one for yourself before they are all gone.

Battle Arms Development Forged Lower 1 Battle Arms Development Forged Lower 1 Battle Arms Development Forged Lower 1

Battle Arms hold themselves to a high standard of quality for everything they make. This is especially true with their lower receivers. The forgings are of the highest quality. They control all factors to make it that way. The roll mark with their new logo is done with a 3D laser engraver that they do in-house. The receiver extension threads are helical. All of the pin holes are reamed rather than drilled. The flared mag well is cut using wire EDM and there is no flashing or rough areas. All of this adds up in time and money spent that gives them a lower receiver that has the quality that is on a Battle Arms Development level.

Features:
-  Mil-spec dimensions and holes.
–  7075 T6 aluminum.
–  Mil-spec type 3 hard anodizing.
–  High quality and tested forgings.
–  3D laser engraved roll mark with Battle Arms’ new logo.
–  All pin holes are reamed rather than drilled.
–  Helical rear receiver extension threads (not drilled and tapped).
–  Wire EDM cut flared mag well.
–  Selector stops have been removed.
–  45 degree safety selector compatible

NEW!! San Tan Tactical Billet Upper – Introductory Offer

Posted on July 30th, 2014 by ar15news

I’ve owned a San Tan Tactical STT-15 billet lower for quite a while now and it is one of my favorite lowers I’ve ever owned. It features full ambi controls including a built in ambi mag release and looks awesome but its always been missing one thing…a San Tan Tactical billet upper! When San Tan Tactical announced they were designing a lightweight billet upper, everyone knew it was going to be a thing of beauty. Just today they officially released the first run of billet uppers and the machining and lightening cuts look amazing. It is machined to match perfectly with a San Tan Tactical billet lower but will look fantastic with any other mil spec dimension lower as well. This first run of uppers are being offered at a special introductory price as well at just $184.95 with FREE SHIPPING.

There are many different AR-15 upper receivers on the market today. When designing this one there were a few features that were addressed. It was created lighter, stronger, and all while looking good doing it. One distinguishing characteristic is the truss pockets. The truss design acts similar to a bridge that carries and distributes the stress across the entire platform verses putting all of the stress on the material right behind the threads of the receiver. It also in turn helps improve your accuracy. The new STT receiver also comes in at only 8.2 ounces. That’s lighter than some slick side uppers!

• Single billet 7075 -T651 aerospace grade aluminum
• Fully Assembled with forward assist
• Machined in T markings
• Interfaces with all AR15/M16/M4 weapons systems
• Mil Spec Type III class II hard coat anodized Black
• Only 8.9 Ounces
• Backed by STT’s unmatched lifetime warranty.
• Made in the USA! Small Made in USA flag

The first run of San Tan Tactical billet uppers are only available at www.REVOLVR.com.

You can purchase a matching billet lower for yourself new San Tan Tactical billet upper at www.SanTanTactical.com.

Special thanks to my buddy UWone77 for the photos of the upper. He gets his hands on stuff faster than anybody I know.

Haley Strategic Partners recently introduced their new INCOG Discreet Rifle Bag which seems to be really nice and comes at a great price point. The INCOG Rifle Bag is large enough to fit a full 16″ AR inside, has an expendable zippered pouch for mags, etc., plenty of extra space inside for stuff like a handgun or optics and has modular Velcro tie down straps to keep everything in place. Larger rifles will need to be broken down but can still fit. Another nice feature is the ability to open the bag using a single zipper or using the Dual Peel Zipper which makes it very easy to access the contents of the bag. The bag can be carry by the carry handle or the included shoulder strap.

HSP INCOG Discreet Rifle Bag 1

HSP INCOG Discreet Rifle Bag 2

There’s always a debate as to whether or not a Discreet rifle case is actually discreet but I think the real issue is people confuse the word Discreet with the word Disguised. Discreet bags should not be overly “Tactical” looking, no large amounts of Molle/PALS, no camo, etc. on the outside but its still a gun case. A discreet bag is one that wouldn’t catch someone’s attention if they saw it out of the corner of their eye. It doesn’t draw attention to itself and say “Hey look, I’m putting a gun in the trunk of my car”. The majority of us will never need to carry a gun in a largely populated area where we the use of a DISGUISED rifle bag (i.e. Guitar/Tennis/Gym bag) would really be handy. If I wanted a “Disguised” rifle bag then I would also have to figure out what fits my character so it doesn’t stand out as well. Seeing me, a 6’2″, ruggedly handsome bearded man with a Tennis bag would probably look a bit out of character. (I may have embellished the “ruggedly handsome” part) I personally think a case like the INCOG would work perfect for my needs. The best part, these are available for just $170 from HaleyStrategic.com where you’ll find additional images and information as well. Check it out.
