Last month we helped introduced the new Centurion Arms CMR rails with KeyMod or M-LOK attachment systems. This was something Centurion Arms customers have been asking for for a long time and now they can get it. Centurion Arms promised a pre-order in early February and they weren’t messing around. Starting today, you can now pre-order a 13″ or 15″ CMR rail with your choice of KeyMod or M-LOK. As if that wasn’t awesome enough, they are also offering them at an introductory price of $195 for 13″ and $200 for the 15″.

Head on over to www.CenturionArms.com and get your order in for these really awesome rails. They should be shipping by the end of the month.

Centurion Arms Adds KeyMod and M-LOK to the CMR Lineup

Posted on January 21st, 2016 by ar15news

This week at SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Centurion Arms sneakily introduced two new versions of their extremely popular CMR rail in the Magpul and BattleComp booths. The CMR rail is a very slim, rugged, tubular rail. It features threaded holes every couple of inches to bolt the CMR rail covers, hand stops, etc to but most accessories made by other companies are designed to attach to 1913 quad rails, KeyMod rails or M-LOK rails. Now you can get the CMR in your choice of KeyMod or M-LOK as well.

Now that you can choose KeyMod or M-LOK, it really opens up a whole new world of usable accessories you can attach to your CMR rail. I’ve got a ton of grips, light mounts, hand stops, rail sections, rail covers, etc. just waiting for an awesome rail like this. I immediately installed the CMR M-LOK rail on my CIV Tactical SPR build. The ability to add a picatinny rail for my bipod via M-LOK (or KeyMod for that matter) is quick and painless.

Centurion Arms CMR MLOK KeyMod 1

The overall profile of the new CMR KeyMod and M-LOK rails is very similar to the original CMR and still features anti-rotation tabs. The barrel nut is also very similar, in fact the new rail will mount to an older CMR barrel nut, but Centurion Arms actually modified the new barrel nut to be able to tighten them using a standard AR-15 castle nut wrench.

The production model CMR KeyMod and M-LOK rails will have QD Sling Mounts at the front and rear of the rail on each side just like the original (the ones in my photos were pre-production) and will be available in both 15″ (shown) and 13″ models.

MSRP on the new rails will run $240 for a 15″ and $230 for a 13″. Centurion Arms will start taking pre-orders at the beginning of February at an introductory price of just $200 for a 15″ or $195 for a 13″ and start shipping units around the end of February. Centurion Arms is an awesome company owned and operated by a retired Navy SEAL. Lets show them some support! Be sure to follow Centurion Arms on their social media outlets listed below to know when the pre-orders start.

First Look – Armaspec XPDW 5 Position Collapsable Stock

Posted on January 14th, 2016 by ar15news

Josh at Armaspec just sent me a few shots of his new XPDW 5 position collapsable stock. You might be thinking “Oh, great. Another expensive stock that requires a modified buffer system.” but that is not what you’re looking at. For starters, the new XPDW 5 position collapsable stock slides onto your standard AR-15 buffer tube and locks in place.

Armaspec XPDW Stock 1

By using a standard buffer tube, spring and buffer it allows you to use any BCG you want and installation is much easier than other PDW style stocks. Because it does not have some large butt pad its also a bit more compact than most standard AR stocks.

Armaspec XPDW Stock 4

What really sets it apart though is the fact that the XPDW 5 position collapsable stock has an MSRP of only $179. Now obviously it will not be as ultra compact as some of the PDW systems out there just based on the use of a standard buffer tube but it will fill in a much needed gap between a standard stock and a $400 PDW style stock.

For more information, be sure to follow Armaspec on both Facebook and Instagram. The new XPDW 5 position collapsable stock will be available for purchase soon from www.Armaspec.com.

NEW!! Midwest Industries SP Line of Handguards with 1.75″ ID

Posted on December 14th, 2015 by ar15news

One of the more popular setups in the AR world right now is utilizing a longer rail with a large Inside Diameter (ID) that will accommodate either a suppressor or a larger blast diffuser muzzle device like the Noveske KX3. Seems like every time I post something about a new rail the number one question is “Whats the Inside Diameter?” for that very reason. Midwest Industries just introduced their new SP line of hand guards that features a 1.75″ ID which is large enough for many suppressors. The Noveske KX3 at 1.37″ will have plenty of room to be tucked under the rail.

Midwest Industres SP large inside diameter rail 1Midwest Industres SP large inside diameter rail 1

As you can see, M-LOK is the attachment method for these rails and there are plenty of mounting slots to choose from with M-LOK at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock as well as the 45 degree spaces in between. These are definitely worth taking a look at for anyone wanting to mount a larger muzzle device or suppressor underneath the rail. According to their Facebook page they are starting with their 12.65″ long model first and I’m sure additional lengths will follow. $165 including one Magpul rail section and the barrel nut wrench is pretty hard to beat.

Intro Price!! Cross Machine Tool SSA (Smooth Side Ambi) Lower

Posted on December 11th, 2015 by ar15news

If you are a fan of a good clean looking design on your AR lower but still want some of the nicer high end features, you’re gonna love the new SSA or Smooth Side Ambi lower from Cross Machine Tool. The SSA Lower has all of the same great Ambi features of the Cross Machine Tool UHP15A lower but features a clean look with no corporate branding or Logo.

As you can see below, the CMT SSA lower features a very nice flared mag well, crisp lines, extremely low key brand and serial number text, is compatible with the Battle Arms short throw ambi safety and features a very nice ambi mag release.

It also features a nicely executed ambi bolt release. You can see in this photo that the serial number is placed just below the trigger pin hole for a super clean look.

Cross Machine Tool SSA ambi lower 4

Cross Machine Tool is going to offer the new SSA lower at a super short-term intro price of just $199.99 which is an outstanding value for a great looking brand new lower that has all the same features as their extremely popular UHP15A ambi billet lower. I gotta say, with ATF-41P and possible gun control legislation looming right around the corner I have been looking for a new lower to SBR and this fits the bill perfectly. Head on over to www.CMTTAC.com and snag one for yourself at the intro price.

FIRST LOOK – Quarter Circle 10 Pistol Caliber MUR Upper

Posted on November 6th, 2015 by ar15news

Quarter Circle 10 has been working hard to bring multiple Pistol Caliber upper options to market that will match their billet Pistol Caliber lowers. First up is their collaboration with VLTOR to make a “Top Charging” Pistol Caliber MUR upper. Its a slick side upper with a smaller pistol caliber opening. “Top Charging” meaning it utilizes the standard AR-15 Charging Handle. These open for pre-order. Their website says 1-4 weeks but I was told by QC10 they they should ship by the end of next week. Price will be $179.95. If you’re looking for a very nice traditional pistol caliber upper for your QC10 or other builds, check out www.QuarterCircle10.com

NEW!! BCM KMR-Alpha Rail

Posted on October 20th, 2015 by ar15news

Bravo Company USA has just announced their new BCM KMR-Alpha rail is now shipping. Although the appearance is unchanged, the new KMR-Alpha is made from an Aircraft Grade Aluminum alloy vs the Magnesium alloy the current KMR is made of. Take a minute to read about the new KMR-Alpha rail and check out the pictures below.

BCM KMR-Alpha Rail 1

Shipping Now !

The definitive modular combat rail is now also available in an Aircraft Grade Aluminum alloy. With seven mounting surfaces, the KMR-Alpha is a modular handguard that uses the KeyMod system to attach accessories such as lights, lasers, vertical grips, handstops and more.

BCM KMR-Alpha Rail 1

Utilizing the same patented (US 8904691) free float barrel nut lock up, the KMR-Alpha uses the identical mounting hardware as the original KMR. This new addition to the KMR family only weighs 6 ounces plus 2.2 ounces for barrel nut and hardware (Note: KMR-A10).

Each KMR-Alpha includes a BCM® KeyMod QD Sling Mount and is available in 15″, 13″ and 10″ as well as 9″, 8″ and 7″ sizes.

KeyMod is the industry standard for a repeat zero modular system. KeyMod mates the handguard and the accessory with a chamfered interface that self-aligns for consistent, repeatable mounting. This self-aligning interface is the same basis for the Picatinny 1913 rail system proven in combat by the US Military since 9/11.

BCM KMR-Alpha Rail 2

The KMR uses a patented lock up system where self-locking cross bolts apply force at the 12:00 position of the handguard equally distributing force around the surface area of the rail. This also insures continuous top center alignment of the rail and mitigates forwards/backwards movement of the handguard when the weapon system is fired.
