We all know that owning Suppressors is an expensive addiction to have can make it very hard for most people to even get started in their NFA ownership. Thankfully, Griffin Armament has brought back the M4SD suppressor, a more affordable option versus their flagship M4SD II suppressor.
The M4SD has fewer parts and is faster to machine than their flagship M4SD2 and M4SD-K suppressors so they are able to pass on the savings to the consumers. The M4SD still has the same billet construction and QD system but does not come with a mount (muzzle device that the suppressor mounts to). Instead you can mount the M4SD to an inexpensive A2 compensator or upgrade to any of the Griffin Armament M4SD suppressor mounts. Take a look at the pictures and details below. Whether you are ready now or hoping to start purchasing suppressors in the future, the Griffin Armament M4SD is definitely worth putting on your list of suppressors to own.
The M4SD suppressor is back- providing the original project goals- an affordable, sound suppressor with support for compatible A2 compensators. Taking the lessons learned from the M4SD II flagship development program, we simplified and produced a more economical suppressor and are passing on the savings to the customer. The M4SD retains the welded, 17-4 billet construction and is as durable as the flagship suppressor. Full auto rated, equipped with a user friendly snap on interface, backed by an extensive muzzle device family- the M4SD suppressor is a great suppressor for the entry level NFA enthusiast desiring a QD interface.
The M4SD mounting system does not suffer from the wear prone issues of ratcheting systems common to the marketplace.
Our SDQD mounting system was designed to provide trouble free use.
The M4SD Does not include a mount

Primary Weapons Systems has always been known for their amazingly reliable and accurate Piston AR’s. A little while ago they started taking their expertise in Piston AR’s and offering really nice, high quality DI parts and Accessories starting with rails and BCGs. Now they’re taking the next logical step and offering assembled uppers using their very high quality components. The heart of these new uppers are the awesome PWS Isonite 1:8 twist Barrels that are chambered in .223 Wylde. They are being offered in 3 different configurations. The DI-14 has a 14.5″ barrel and FSC556 muzzle device. The DI-14LE is the same as the DI-14 but with a TRIAD 556 muzzle device. The DI-16 has a 16″ barrel and FSC556 muzzle device. All 3 models will feature the PWS DI KeyMod rail and the PWS Upper Receiver with Forward Assist and Dust Cover.
By now you’re probably bracing for sticker shock but you won’t need to. These awesome PWS DI Uppers are priced at just $699 which represents an amazing value. Check out the great video below or head on over to www.PrimaryWeapons.com to locate a local PWS dealer. I would also expect to see them in-stock soon at online dealers such as Weapon Outfitters.
Rainier Arms recently launched a line of complete Piston AR-15 Uppers that they have hand built using their high quality Rainier Arms parts and Adams Arms Mid Length Piston kits. I know what you’re thinking because I thought it too. “Oh great. Another expensive Piston upper”. Thankfully that is not the case.
The Rainier Arms Piston Series uppers all feature the new VooDoo Innovations Melonite coated barrels, Rainier Arms Compensator (RAC), Rainier Arms Milspec upper and the Adams Arms Complete Piston Kit including BCG and Charging Handle. They are offering two models, the Base and the Force. Both models come in your choice of 14.5″ and 16″ lengths. The Base is exactly what you would assume, a more basic upper with standard plastic hand guards. The Force model upgrades to one of the brand new Rainier Arms Force KeyMod rails.
Base Piston 5.56 Uppers in both 14.5″ and 16″ models are priced at just $575 each. The upgrade to a Rainier Arms Force KeyMod rail only costs another $120. Check out the pictures and details below. If I were had some extra funds for a new upper this would definitely be at the top of the list. Links to purchase are listed below. Get on it before everyone finds out about these and they sell out.
Rainier Arms BASE Piston 5.56 Complete Upper – 14.5″ – $575
Rainier Arms BASE Piston 5.56 Complete Upper – 16″ – $575
Rainier Arms FORCE Piston 5.56 Complete Upper – 14.5″ – $695
Rainier Arms FORCE Piston 5.56 Complete Upper – 16″ – $695
I get asked quite often how to build a decent AR on a budget. Nine times out of Ten, when someone says “budget” they are referring to something under $1,000. There are lots of manufacturers of junk parts out there so its awesome to get to help steer people in the right direction. I typically go with the lowest build I would let myself do if I were doing a gun just for range fun but that would also work in an SHTF situation and let the end user do any upgrades they think are necessary. One trick that works is to try to buy all of your parts from one company to save on shipping costs. The info below is just one example that I was able to piece together for someone by looking for deals at Palmetto State Armory.
PSA has really been pushing some deals on their PTAC line of uppers and parts. Right now they have a deal on a complete upper with M16 BCG, M4 Profile barrel, Charging handle and a StrikeFire red dot for just $400. That’s pretty awesome if you ask me. They also have a deal for 10 PMAGs and a stripped blem PSA lower for just $170. The only thing left was to find the lower parts kit. By searching the site I found that their Black MOE Lower Build Kit was just $100, which is $20 cheaper than the FDE MOE Lower Build Kit, so I went with black kit. The total for the parts came to $670, add shipping of $29 to my house and you’re at $699 shipped. As I mentioned, this is a budget AR. Don’t expect it to be some tack driver or comparable to your Noveske. Its a $700 gun and with all things, you get what you pay for.

PSA Blem Lower and 10 PMAGS – $170

After we posted a link to the 80% .308 lowers last week the resounding question was…”Where can you get an affordable .308 upper?”. Well, we can do you one better and found a complete .308 upper including BCG and Charging Handle. Just so happens that the same company who is offering the 80% .308 lowers also has a line on some DPMS Panther .308 Uppers and is selling them for $695. I don’t post much about DPMS AR’s but I’ve heard good things about their .308 uppers if you’re looking for an affordable option. Check em out. Hopefully this helps those of you who were asking about them. Available at DIYArmory.com.
This new upper from AIM is probably one of the nicest ones they’ve come out with lately. The NEW AIM 16″ CHF .223/5.56 Bravo 13″ Upper Receiver is not your average run of the mill upper receiver. It starts with a great 16″ Daniel Defense CHF (Cold Hammer Forged) barrel that is covered by the brand new Troy Industries 13″ BRAVO Quad Rail and all mated up with a standard M4 Flat Top Upper Receiver. With the rise in AR-15 parts costs we have been seeing lots of manufacturers selling uppers that don’t include the BCG (Bolt Carrier Group) or Charging Handle just so they can show a lower price. Overall, its just an advertising scheme and will still cost you another $150+ to get a decent BCG and CH. Well this upper receiver is complete which means it will also come with the BCG and Charging Handle. These are not junk BCG’s either. If you’re looking for an absolutely awesome new upper this is a great one to buy. And you couldn’t build this exact configuration yourself for this price. Read below for the rest of the details and pics.
