You’ve probably seen some images and information floating around cyberspace showing a new product called the BCO which stands Browe Combat Optic. This awesome new optic is made by a newer company called Browe Inc. Although Browe Inc. has only been around since 2009, it was founded by Brian K. Browe, former Director of Operations of Trijicon, Inc who has over 15 years experience in the industry. The BCO is packed with some totally amazing technological advances that are sure to put it at the top of the list for many Mil/LE wishlists. I have included the press release for the BCO below as well as a special “Pre-SHOT Show” $500 discount that Brian asked me to pass along to you AR15news.com readers.
A NEW BREED IS BORN: BROWE INTRODUCES INDUSTRY’S MOST
TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED COMBAT OPTIC
— New State-of-the-Art Optic Delivers Highest Quality Materials and
Features Not Available on Any Other Product —
MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (Sept. 1, 2011) After more than two decades of limited innovation in the industry, BROWE, Inc. manufacturer of premium quality optical systems for military, law enforcement, hunting and the shooting sports, has set a new standard in quality, performance and functionality with the introduction of its new Titanium 4×32 BROWE Combat Optic (BCO).
”After years of interaction with the police and military communities it became clear there was an opportunity to develop a product that was specific to their unique requirements, said Brian Browe, president of BROWE, Inc. The BROWE Combat Optic is the result of years of continuous research, development and improvement. It has numerous tactical advantages over the outdated design and technology of the optics currently in use which gives users a significant edge.”
The BCO is a purpose designed and built optic ideally suited for tactical scenarios and well suited for military, police and sportsmen. Its state-of-the-art precision grade titanium design makes it compact and light weight, yet nearly three times stronger than its aluminum counterparts, enhancing its ability to survive the rigors of field abuse under the most severe environmental conditions.
The BCO’s list of evolutionary technology is long and includes such features as:
o Target Light Sensor Technology – Measures the target light and automatically adjusts the reticle
illumination to proper brightness. The BCO has a cadmium-sulfide photocell located in the optical
path providing great sensitivity and accuracy of the target light that is being transmitted through the optic,
not ambient lighting. When in a stationary position an operator may be faced with a multitude of target
light conditions even through the ambient light stays consistent. Also, while on the move, tactical light
environment is very liquid and constantly changing. When nanoseconds count there is no time to make
manual adjustments or search for a poorly illuminated reticle. The Target Light Sensor Technology
simplifies the operation and allows the operator to focus on the job at hand.
o Single Intuitive Control (SIC) – Gives the user a simple button designed to simulate muscle
memory and expedite manual operation.
o BCO Microcontroller – The brain of the BCO and unique to the industry, this microcontroller is
capable of being re-flashed with alternative programs via a sealed utility port. This port can be
used to flash new updated operating firmware or to customize the existing program. It can also
be used to import or export power for accessories or plug in a remote pressure pad switch for
manual operation of the SIC button at remote areas of the weapon.
o Vibration Motion Sensor – Designed to conserve battery life by placing the BCO in SLEEP mode if
motion is not detected. The BCO has an average battery life of 2000 hours with a minimum of
775 hours on max brightness. In the sleep mode, the battery will maintain the full 10 year life
expectancy of a Surefire Lithium 123A battery.
The BCO also combines next-in-class features such as high quality optical glass, high precision
machining, and rugged military design. All lenses are precision ground of the finest quality optical glass
available and are broad band anti-reflective coated, possessing excellent light gathering capabilities
even under low light conditions. The BCO’s multiple mounting areas are integrated into the housing
design, which allows for easy addition of add on accessories such as lens covers, dust covers and laser
filters. As a result of the flat objective face, accessories mount positively to the optic via internal threads
rather than with large clumsy rubber bands as used on other currently fielded products.
The BCO enhances the speed at which an operative can acquire a site picture and successfully
engage a target, making the difference in operational success.
